kailaurius
Does anyone know how large the planets are? For example: SWG's planet sizes are 12km from one side of the map to the next or 48 square kilometers if I remember correctly. Will the maps in this game be fairly large or will there be limited battle zones or areas?
Alegis
the games are totally different. MMORPGS tend to have HUGE MAPS. while fpssmaller combat packed. Mostly what you do in mmorpgs is run around anyways. And in BF dont think of it as "planets" but "maps". Much much much smaller
kailaurius
That's true, but Planetside which is a FPS has maps that are about the same size as SWG. I was thinking that maybe the maps in this game would be close to the same size as the maps in those 2 games.
B1GC
I was just talking about this last night while playing socom 2. In games that are round based you can not have HUGE maps becuase once the teams are down to 1v1 then it would be virtually impossible to find other people. But since SW:BF is a respawn game that also incoorporates big vehicles with long range weaps, airplanes, and a large amount of NPCs the maps can and should be fairly large. They will most likly have some very large maps just like SWG (Hoth and Genosis (sp)maybe?) and some medium sized ones (Naboo maybe?)
Mondo_Man
I hated those maps in Galaxies. Running around from one end to the other was a total snooze fest. The planets/maps in Battlefront will be constructed to encourage optimum battles.
tFighterPilot
Some maps are bigger while others are smaller. For example Geonosis is a small map.
Tyler_Durden
Geonosis is a small map?!? That was one of the biggest ground battles in all of star wars. Where did you hear this? As for the map size, what i've seen from a thread is that they are actually pretty huge. The tatooine map, which is supposed to be a smaller, more compact map has a nice size to it. A picture of it is on the battlezone thread. It shows the map in with the editor that the devs are using. I don't know if anyone's played the battlefield games, but it seems that the size of battlefront's maps are comparable to battlefield's in that they look to be about the same size and in some cases, maybe bigger. I can't say for sure, though. But i'll tell you this, while playing bf: vietnam, it took me about ten minutes to walk with my soldier from one end of the map to the other, without a vehicle. Now to me that is a pretty huge area. And i didn't even traverse the whole map. i just got to the point where my team was and where there was fighting.
