I've been messing around with this tools for weeks, and all it gave me was a grenade that didn't do anything. I followed both lightsaber instructions, from achilles and windus, neither helped, so i give up, unless there's some more way to edit this game:jawa :jawa :jawa :jawa

Uh... JBeannie... you are kidding right?

 

KT is probably the easiest game toolset I have seen, especially without any official support from both LA and Bioware.

 

You want to make a lightsaber... really bad, we can tell , not the best item to start out modding KOTOR with.

 

Might I suggest starting with other lesser difficulty items like masks, gloves, belts, armor, robes, etc. and working your way up to a completely custom lightsaber a little later on.

 

Get comfortable with a section (Editing Item .uti files) then try something more advanced and so on, and so on, you will be able to do most of what you want... with a little patience and dillegence.

The only program i enjyed so far is this program called hex explorer and the GFF editor. And every time i try to make something i feel like i'm wasting my life away, i just can't believe i been trying to make a lightsaber so many times and all i got was a grenade, that i couldn't even use, and i followed it step by step, and than nadda.

Then perhaps you're better off starting with one of the simpler mods, as Redhawke has suggested.

Im never normally rude, but to be fair, your attitude is terrible.

 

if you have a problem theres no point ranting and raving about how terrible the tool is to us, when really it could be many things going wrong, including user error. Why not tell us what you want to do and we'll see how we can help?

i was ONCE like you, instead of going for Lightsabres, edit items, its 100000xs easier, i know its not what you want but still, try it, then give us your opinion

I made my first custom lightsaber (with texture! yay me!) not long ago. Of course, it's more akin to the toy lightsaber you get on Korriban than anything serious, in that it's not upgradable.

 

But honestly, why would you want to upgrade the Darksaber anyway? It's stupidly powerful.

 

I've found KoToR tool to be amazingly powerful, versatile, and intuitive.

I thought you got the dud grenade when you try to give yourself an item that does not exist using the giveitem cheat. Could you be mispelling your item on the giveitem cheat? And make sure you do not include the .uti for your new item when you are trying to use the giveitem cheat.

Dud grenade comes up whenever you do something wrong it seems. I messed up on my hex editing once, and when I inserted my crystal into the lightsaber it became a grenade. Go figure.

Well i also trying to play with a NPC charachter...And when i finished with the Endar spire i entered a Escape Pod and i see the cutscene i click it away i get in a room thats in THE Escape Pod...and i only wanted to play with a NPC and i get this:mad:...Maybe some1 can tell me what i have.

What did you do exactly? Could you explain?

Did you used KSE to add an early jedi class to your npc? If yes, make sure to extract to your override folder the dlgs that tk102 included in the package.

i copyd the 2 files that were ment to be extrected in the Override folder...and i copyed the kse_211 thing in my save folder then i used Jedi_White_Male 4 and yes i gave my charachter a early jedi powers...and gave him noob force powers(like you get at Dantooine)then i gave him a few items like Jedi Band,Force Implant and Force Gloves and a purple Lightsaber...Then i played the game no errors i can change the robe(s) but it wont change its appearnce(thats good)then i play the game normally with my powers and NPC...and Then i reach Carth then i am getting myself in the Escape Pod then i see a cutscene then i saw that then ill se my NPC back in that Escape Pod and i can't get out...so your saying i may not give him earlie force powers?

I guess double check to make sure both cut00_convers.dlg and tar02_carth022.dlg files are truly in your override folder. That's exactly the symptom they fix.

I actually found this whole thing rather funny. Okay he went awry somewhere in UTI creation or simply didn't type his item file name correct with the giveitem cheat.

 

Not exactly the problem I had. Mine was rather funny in that I created everything right and could get the crystal in the game and whatnot but the lightsaber looked like a grenade and CTD'd if I went to "game screen" with it. By the time I've deleted everything but my .tga files and started over I get to the end and go to edit the upcrystals.2da from the time before and saw I actually forgot a letter when I was typing it in. Lesson learned here: check the simple stuff first.

 

Anyways man I learned how to Mod KotOR starting with lightsabers so if you do happen to read this, don't give up. You can't always be the best at everything from the moment you start.

I have another problem...I used the Redemtion Robe on a NPC(female)well now i wanna change robes but it WONT change...Can somebody help me?
