Aristotle
Hold tight... regarding your requests for additional new server admin functions... LEC is well aware of your needs and issues. Look for it to be addressed in the very near future. More to come... -Ari
Iceman_IX
Excellent to hear that they are dedicated to improving their product. What's the best way to voice concerns about the game that could plausibly be patched? This forum? Another forum?

schlepter
Here is the email address to eithe voice concerns, gripe, rant, rave, praise, etc. about Battlefront... techsupp@lucasarts.com Apparently there are lots o' peeps using that address and if their boxes fill up fast, they will know there are probs!!! Iceman_IX
Apparently there are lots o' peeps using that address and if their boxes fill up fast, they will know there are probs!!! But that also means there's no way they'll be able to read them all. Email is a horrible form to voice important concerns, which is why I didn't really ask for an address. Even besides junk mail no one reads all their mail, electronic or not. But thanks, I'll probably send one their way anyway. You need a forum to discuss/refine your suggestions/tweaks in order to get something that is doable instead of saying "this should be this way" without recourse as one voice in a thousand. Aristotle
Course, another option is to use the Bug report / Request / Feedback forum I just setup which they will also read... just a thought.
SITH_ShadowCat
Patches are always good. I think this game is great, but if it can be made better, then I won't complain the least bit. Good to hear they're adressing the real problem that people are having instead of stuff they assume is wrong. Don't let this one go Pandemic. [RNGD]Tyrant
should this be in the admin forum? anyway...what have you heard? I have heard from Jens of Pandemic and Jay of LEC that they are 'working on it'...but no more details ...my concern is that we might be talking about 2 months (which is how long it took them to patch Jedi Academy II JO if this isnt fixed by the end of the week I am going to shut my server down or password it. Iceman_IX
Sweet, a bugs forum. These aren't fixes that they can slap on (you want them done right, don't you?). These are major fixes to major problems. Unless they've been working on it since late-Beta, it's gonna take a while to work out a system to fix it, code it, test it, and streamline it with the current code. Atleast they're on it and not ignoring their title post-launch (which happens all too often).
[RNGD]Tyrant
as I have said before...there has to be a reason for us admins to keep servers open. It costs about $100/month for the bandwidth required for a swbf server. We pay because we are given control. Right now we have ZERO control. That means we cant get into our own servers if they are full and can be voted out. We cant kick people out, we cant do anything. which is why I am not willing to wait months for them to fix this problem right now every server admin is essentially running a charity...I think LEC should be paying us for providing these nice big servers...I havent seen them launch any. Iceman_IX
I completely agree with you. It's just gonna take time. Telling them to throw out a patch in 2 days simply isn't gonna work. I'd take your server down if I were you or password it if you can't save money. Renew your server only after they have something you can work with. Sooner or later you will have a workable solution. $100 a month for a server? I've heard you mention that multiple times. Should be able to get a decent server for less than that, unless prices have skyrocketed lately. I guess prices rise that high for such large numbers (above 40?) But if you're paying, what's the name? I'd kill to get the kind of ping and performance it sounds like yours would have.
[RNGD]Tyrant
thats actually a ballpark figure I pay a bit over 200 bucks/month currently we are running 2 BF servers and the SWBF server and some teamspeak servers. we can run up to 4 game servers at the same time but if they are all full all the time our badnwidth costs go up. ...but when companies start renting out swbf servers they will be around 100 bucks depending on size (ECGN charges $5/player for a BF server)...but of course none of them can rent them out now without server tools...which I imagine is a big issue for LEC
S31 Apoc
i pay around 140 ,,, & couldnt get in my ouwn server last night "42 players was running GREAT.. I could have done more I think.. but wont"
Stalkerh
My personal at-home server rig and high bandwidth conn can support about 16 players with little issue. Still, it WOULD be nice to actually be able to admin my server.... at the moment all I can do is pick a map rotation and start it up. heh.
Valkyrie
The server slot # seems to have everything to with how long my ded server stays up. 50 slots - a game or 2, 32 slots - a few games maybe more, 24 slots - it will run all night. Anyone else find anything that prolongs the life of the ded server besides my astute observations:rolleyes: ?
Jetstream
Had no problem running 32 slots or 20 slots, period. Officially 50 slots isn't supported for Internet play right? Wouldn't be suprised if there were issues over 32 slots.

Jetstream
Plasma, see other threads here. You can't as things stand. It's one per box as it broadcasts on 0.0.0.0. I imagine others as well as us are using more than one box to at least satisfy a few of our customers. We're beginning to get the others who are waiting cancelling their pre-orders now. The average going rate for a "quality dedicated server with metered 2 megs of bandwidth" is about $250.00 This price is the average for stable data hosting centers, with quality bandwidth, with you providing your own server and co-locating it there. I know there are fly by night "game hosting centers" where you can rent a "virtual server" which is actually sharing a server with many other clients. Many of those places underestimate the price of real bandwidth, and are out of business rather quickly. In my opinion, building your own quality server our of true server grade parts, and co-locating at rock solid data center, where you and only you have complete control of your server, provides the best experience.
