OK...

Fighters:

1.X-Wing:good speed, generally well rounded. It can carry a beam, so I can keep speed up with my weapons+shields at above maintinence.

2.TIE Defender:WONDERFUL!

3.B-Wing:Huge warhead load. Good guns. Only a small speed handicap.

4.A-Wing:SPEED! Better warhead load than the X-Wing. Shields and hull a bit lite.

Wow, kewl!!!

A "What's your favourite type of craft" post!

How ong has it been since one of those popped up?

wink.gif Sorry, just had to do this. My favourite craft is the X-Wing btw. The best flyable craft in the game is either the T/D or Otana...

He he, come to the dark side my friends....

1) TIE Advanced, awesome craft that adds some hi-tech to the TIEs. Add in a beam and some missiles and it's lethal. the T/D just too good to use in all fairness IMHO

2) A-Wing, great speed and manouevrability, though it's a little under-armed for my tastes, like flying a T/F with shields. Shields are weak but a solution is to avoid being hit wink.gif

3) TIE Interceptor, I know you can kill me with just one or two hits - but just try hitting me biggrin.gif

4) X-Wing, all round work-horse. You need something done and done right, call in the X-Wings

Well, my favorite Rebel fighter is the X-Wing

My favorite Impeariel fighter is either Tie Interceptor or the Tie Fighter.

And I like the IDS's cause of the shap and the size.

I agree with all the posts in this thread. I love all the ships and I love the X-Wing series of games very much. My favorite ship to fly is the A-Wing. I love to take out Tie Bombers with concussion missles. The X-Wing comes in as a close second.

If you read the X-Wing books, you may notice a high proportion of female pilots flying the A-Wing...I'm no exception. The guns are a bit weak, but it is just SO sprite and pretty! There's something about its looks and petiteness that really appeals to women pilots. It has always been my ship of choice, followed by the X-Wing, then the B-Wing. I hate flying ugly-looking ships, no matter how good they are.

My favorite ships are the otana for misions you have to board things,B-wing for capship killing and alittle dogfighting,X-Wing is good for almost anything,A-wing,pretty weak but good for intercept missions.

Out of all of them the X-Wing is my favorite lots of firepower.

I DON'T like the really menuverable ones i always overshoot the target, and they generly can be tooken out by a less muneverable fighter, i've taken out a TIE/D in a b-wing.

B and Y are better if you want firepower. I don't like the X-Wing because it is to average.

I take a Y or B istead of an X any day. The Ion Cannon alone is worth the trade. A wings

are nice when speed or survial is the key to the sucessfull completion of a mission.

About fast and manuverable craft they are pretty dangerous if the pilot knows what he

does. Most fast and manuverable craft die quickly when they get hit. Use hit and run

tactics and avoid flying straight and close range dogfights in these crafts. Most players

think A-Wing and T/A are great dog fighters but they aren't. Both craft throw away their

major advantages - speed and unpredictabe movement - when they try to dog fight another

craft. This makes them easy prey for any craft who joins the fight.

How can one like a Y-wing? They can't move, or see. I prefer TIE Defenders for Imperials, and A-wings or X-wings for Rebel. If you couldn't guess, I like speed. TIE Defenders have the added boost of six guns, including two ion cannons.

Yes yes, we all know how powreful the T/D can be, but it is easy to hit as it is very big about all axis. Anyways, it's just not attractive enough for me...it's just my quirk...I only fly good-looking and preferably petite ships. It's a girl thing!

I sort of agree with Talon, the T/D is easy to hit - the problem is hitting it often enough to get the shields down, but after that you're just one good quad-linked shot away from painting a T/D on your fuselage.

Mind you, stick a SuperAce or Jedi in one and he'll hand you your head in a paper bag more often than not.

Can't move isn't that much of a problem. The ion cannon is the doom of unshielded crafts.

A good Y-Wing Pilot can disable an AI Squadron in a few seconds. X-Wing can't do this

and they don't have the speed of an A-Wing to chase down the remaining Ties.

The X-Wing behaves like a bomber without having the bombers advantages - durability

and fire power. Just compare the X-Wing to the Y/B Gunboat. All 4 crafts are big and

their manuverability isn't good compared to "real" fighters. Beinging big and unmanuverable

isn't a problem when you can force opponent craft out of your flight path with your

superrior firepower. X-Wing are not good at this because their gun placement and rate of

fire sucks.

Well the T/D has power, firepower and speed, but it's size becomes it's major disadvatage.

A-wing is fast, but not very good shileds, low firepower (if you forget the Ungodly number of missiles), its size is small so it can use it's speed adavtage. but if the A-wing has to go after a Stong amoored/shielded craft w/o missiles..it cannot perform.

T/A is probly one of my fist choices, it shields/armor are comperable to the X-wing, and unlike the X-wing..it has speed and manuverability. Yes, it may not look preatty, but jsut like the A-10... it can get the job done.

X-wings are my prefered craft, b/c you learn to not rely on speed to save your sorry ass. You learn the art of manuver, and how to effectivly use widly spaced guns (I only use Laser convergance on small, or Heavily shilded craft). Also with decent shields and laser energy, you also learn how to manage your energy.

Ion cannon equipred ships: This is realyl usfull for ppl with bad aim. (not saying they do) you can effectivly kill and opponent with 2-4 Ion shots (if the shilds are down) and then make an easy kill. but again..i belive this teaches you bad habits. All AI behave differently when thier hull is slighty damaged, with ions, you never really learn how to combat that.

For me, the X-wing... b/c you can learn the most by flying it, and then be able to effectivly use almost any other craft (that have shields)

The X-wing is the best. It allows you to learn how to use everything your ship can offer to defeat an opponenet. I hate the Y-wing cause u can't see anything from the cockpit.

I never use the cockpit either.

And don't compare the crappy TIE/AD to the A-10 there nothing alike, i've flown A-10 sims,TIE/ADs are everthing A-10 aren't,TIE/AD are fast, menuverable, weak(two advanced missile and there dead),The A-10 compares more to the B-Wing.and A-10s blow stuff up way beter then a TIE/AD,A-10s are my favorite jet to fly.

I'll take 4 cannons over two any day thank you very much!! X-Wings not manouverable???? Who taught you how to fly?? Who needs an ion cannon unless you're disabling something? Compare the X-wing to the Gunboat?? The x-Wing is MUCH faster, more manouverable, more cannons; handles like a bomber??? [milkshake] who are you anyway?[/milkshake]

OK, more:

Transports:

1.Otana:Well rounded, 2 turrets

2.Escort shuttle:Slow(73 MGLT), but it can outgun a TIE/D with lasers linked forward. I can relatively easily outmanover a TIE/IN with 1/3 throttle.

Capitol Ships:

1.SSD:Obvious reasons.

2.Calamari Cruiser Type I(Defiance):Can outgun an ISDII! WONDERFUL!!

3.ISD`s:Not bad at all...

4.W/CRS:Main defense is fighters, which is a weak defense.

5.VSD`s:good ship, but slow, and not many guns.
