BongoBob
Well, my dad bought something from some guy today claiming it was a cable modem...even though it clearly states on the thing it's an ethernet media converter. Where in the WWF does it say modem? Anyhow, I was just wondering if anyone knew wtf this thing does. Here's a pic I found on the net of it... http://www.alliedtelesyn.com/products/details.aspx?67 Thanks.
ZBomber
Er.... why exactly DID your dad buy it if he knew it wasn't what it was claimed to be?
Acrylic
Wow, that sounds like something my dad would do.
ET Warrior
My guess would be that it converts media.... <.< Just a guess though, I could be way off
matt--
It transmits packets between unshield twisted pair (UTP, think cat5) and some coaxile cable, probably thin net, most often used in token ring networks.

Welcome to my world And thanks for the help matt, although I didn't understand that post entirely, but it sounds like it's used to send files between comps in simple terms. I'll try to take a pic of it, but I need to wait for my dad to get back from god knows where he went to get the camera.

He went to go get a camera? Maybe he'll come back with something cooler!
BongoBob
No, I don't know where he went, but he keeps the camera locked up in his drawer. lol, I don't even know why he does things like this. I think I could sell him wood if I said it could drive a car
