It transmits packets between unshield twisted pair (UTP, think cat5) and some coaxile cable, probably thin net, most often used in token ring networks.

And thanks for the help matt, although I didn't understand that post entirely, but it sounds like it's used to send files between comps in simple terms. I'll try to take a pic of it, but I need to wait for my dad to get back from god knows where he went to get the camera.

Not really. Actually, I'm having trouble thinking of a plausible use for it.

 

He went to go get a camera? Maybe he'll come back with something cooler!

No, I don't know where he went, but he keeps the camera locked up in his drawer.

 

lol, I don't even know why he does things like this. I think I could sell him wood if I said it could drive a car :D

LMAO ! what does your dad smoke ?? :D as matt-windu said, those things are used in setting up a network system.... next time, just tell him to give you some cash $$$ and you can figure it out for yourself :D
