Weirdest problems of them all

This is an e-mail I tried to send to Creative. I say tried because they claimed my e-mail was invalid which it isn't. I think they're just trying to avoid their problems.

I'm out of hope...

Hi

I have the weirdest problem. I used to have a Creative SBPCI Ensoniq ES5880 sound card. I tried to update the driver but while it was being updated, the computer had a system crash. So the computer rebooted. After the reboot, both my CD-Rom and CD-WR drivers were non-functionning so were some items related to sound.

I succesfully regained the control of both my CD drives and tried reinstalling the old driver for my old card. Of course it resulted in a weird problem that nobody seems to know the solution.

I thought it would be the sound card only so I went and bought a new Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS yet the problem remained.

It is as such. According to the Device Manager in the Windows Control Panel, the sound card is working fine. Everest(http://www.lavalys.com/) also detects the sound card. However, dxdiag does not detect any sound card nor does any other program. The Sounds and Audio Device in Control Panel doesn't see anything either.

I tried looking for similar cases around the internet yet no one knows exactly what is the cause of this problem. I would rather not reformat my hard drive as I'll leave that as the last solution. Well, the realt last solution would be buying a new computer but well...

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Good luck with Creative (NON-) Support.

I bought a Audigy 2 Z2 that worked fine for music, but crashed the entire system when playing 3D games.

After about a month of e-mails and trying different options getting no closer to the real problem, the guy who was handling my case just gave up and another guy took over, asking me to start at step 1 all over again.

Turns out my motherboard is incompatable with the Audigys. You think someone there just might have been able to pick up on that...

I am now running a Turtle Beach card.

Creative's support team is useless. You'll have better luck with Google. I did.

No offence meant MTV2, but try to read through and understand before posting ;)

yeah, I really hate crappy support. You fork out your cash and then you're on your own when things mess up :(

I havent had too much problems with IBM and microsoft though to tell truth - though my contact has been limited.

Indeed, Google is cool. There are alot of great message boards out there frequented by clever tech minded ppl who can suggest solution :) (not this one tho :p well, I lie, there are a cpl of clever cookies :) )

I would write them hate mail and death threats, and send a picture of my a$$ with the words "Kiss this" painted on using mspaint.exe :D

jk...well some of it :p
