talk like that is not permitted. We know what you're implicating, and it's not appreciated here.

Anyway, if you can I'd go for Photoshop, but if you can't photoshop elements works just as well.

Actually there is a salvage store that gets electronics from burned/hurricaned stores and sells them to the public at 75% the tag- making it 125 dollars instead of 500- id say that is A LOT cheaper.....we all know the old saying about assumptions......

How was anything i said arrogant?

I recently upgraded from Paint Shop Pro 7 to 9,.. and I couldn't believe how much it resembled an older version of Photoshop (5.5) I used to use at work, and how little it looked like older versions of PSP i had used in the past. I think there is a definite attempt on JASCs part to follow Adobe's lead in several of the current features.

Thats exactly what i was saying. I haven't used PSP since about version 2 (almost 10 years ago) when it was basically an advanced version of MS Paint. No layers, No real effects, just basic bitmap editing.

But I saw a review of PSP recently and it seemed to have everything that I remembered from Photoshop 6 (which was the last time I used photoshop until I got PS CS a month or so ago. )

Whereas PSP has gone from a cheap shareware paint to about Photoshop 6 or better, Photoshop CS doesn't seem to have many overt advances from the old version I used to use... and after using fireworks I'm having trouble getting back into it's UI to be honest.

I was basically complimenting PSP... shucks..

---------------------------------------

Fireworks is great for producing vector graphics for web sites, and for compression and so on. It is definately easier to learn than PS. It CAN handly pictures and photoediting, but nowhere near as well as PS.

PS on the other hand isn't very good at vector and web stuff (supposed to use illustrator?)... but is great at photo and print manipulation.

PSP i have no recent experience of, but i think it would probably be the best "all round" option.

Fair enough, my mistake.

Sorry to have bothered you.

[dramatic break down]Bast it all, people! Stop the bickering! I just can't stand it! Why can't you all just get along?!?! [/end dramatic break down] :D :D

Now, then some of you have said that PSP would be the best choice all around. So, knowing that it's mainly to be used for a website, and used with Dreamweaver, would Fireworks or PSP seem like the best option? Will Fireworks do basically the same thing as PSP, with the advantage that it's made to work well with Dreamweaver? And how much is Fireworks going for, anyway?

Now, no more fighting. Make yourselves useful and help me decide. :D

Ah, well, I'm sorry. My post was too aggressive. I'm guilty of that twice a year. It seems started early this year...

Whilst I know nothing about Fireworks, I have worked a little with Dreamweaver, and I don't think whether you have such an "integration" (as it's supposed to have with FW) or not should be your highest priority.

But as it has been suggested many times, the absolutely best thing you (or the actual user of the software) could do would be to get trial versions. It's available for PSP, and I should think also for Fireworks.

When you proceed to actually do some work with the programs, it shouldn't take too many days to learn which one is ultimately better. We can talk here all day long, but even dozens of posts here won't get you any closer to a good decision than you already are.

So, go get the trials! Go, go, go!

There's nothing in your first post that even hinted at something like that, thus IS' reaction was actually VERY logical.

@lassev: Fine! I'll get the trials then. I tend to over analyze anyhow...

@Insane Sith: I'd like to share with you a quote from one of my textbooks for a PC Specialist program. The quote is when they're talking about the many wonders of the web. (as if I need them to tell me. ) Note: These books are slightly outdated, and some of the info is a bit inaccurate.

...You can even download hit songs before they are released in stores! The possibilties are truly endless!

Can you believe that? Oh, man that one got me. So funny. I couldn't believe that a schoolbook would say such a thing. Especially since, I'm the type that wondered if it was legal to listen to the 30 second clips at bestbuy.com when they first started that. :)

Sheeh! Women!

;)

Not sure on prices.

Fireworks is great for the web. Its printing options can be limited though.

I wouldn't make too much of the integration between dreamweaver and fireworks though. I have both, but almost never bother with the integration features as they save at most a few seconds, and can be prone to complicating the issue.

The fact the two have similar interfaces makes it easy to alt-tab between them without getting lost though.

You can get a Dreamweaver/Fireworks (and flash?) bundle that is the cheapest way to get them... but if you already have dreamweaver then this imay not be worth it.
