Question for someone with TSL...

Just a quick question for a future modding idea, but in TSL (at least the XBOX version), how many different saber models (hilts) are there (are there multiple hilt models for the sabers or is it all basically one generic hilt per type like in KOTOR) and How many total blade colors are there? I have not read anything about the game and have not looked in the guide atall because I don't want anything spoiled, but I am kicking around a few saber mod ideas for when it comes out on PC next month. Only thing I really know about is the new saber upgrade system which sounds awesome :D

Montross beat me... oh well...

Hi BoL_Stryke,

In regards to the lightsabers... I could refer you to this in the Telos Tourist Bureau forum. In fact that's a good place to look for info -- but beware of the spoilers. Darth333 has done a great job making sure everyone is using them. Sometimes the newest posts though haven't been screened...

Sorry I can't answer any your questions directly. :)

Same here ^^ I have done some mods and modeling with Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast and a bit of modding in KOTOR, but then I stopped playing KOTOR for a while until you guys got models working and I figure with TSL coming to PC I better start getting ideas  I also hope some of the original modders return for TSL. I remember in the early days when Talachia and Kitty and Eispedigos and all of the others were around (where did all them people disappear to) and glad to see the rest of you are still around along with a bunch of new, extremely talented people. Anyways, done with my rant...just can't wait for KOTOR 2!!!

Depends on which mace hilt :D For Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy I made a Plo Koon Ep2 hilt (mace from ep1) and a kit fisto hilt as well as a few custom hilts. I was working on a player model but that ended because I did not have the time or patience to complete it :( Besides that I did a few scripting things to KOTOR and JA that I never released (they were nit picky personal preferences that almost anyone could do like certain item placement things and spawn scripts) and worked on a few early KOTOR mods way back which now are probly not availible any longer. (a few reskins of armors and saber blades and the white/tan jedi robe mods come to mind) As for what im working on, that will all depend on how much of what is known now for KOTOR will still work in TSL :)

Yeah but first Cchargrin is going to need to re-break the model format for TSL since that is the one thing that has changed. That way all of you modellers out there can give us pretty new models and toys for TSL.:D

Will he? ;) I would bet good money that KotOR models will work in TSL. If you look at the early screen shots almost everything is from KotOR. I find it highly unlikely that Obsidian would take the time To convert KotOR models that they left in TSL. Which leads me and a few others to believe that the engine WILL be able to use the old models. Well I can tell that the first thing Im gonna try before I even play the game is see if my Saber models will work in tsl. I really want to enjoy my own work. If you can believe it I have barely used my own models. Plus I hate the LS hilt models that come with the game. :slsaber:

I would think they would be the same format since everything from KOTOR 1 looks the same and I can't imagine them introducing a new format just for the new items. THen again it could be like Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy-JO models work in JA fairly well but they don't work with a few of the new features that JA added (Animations do not work properly and such) As for me, I will probably convert 1 or two of my old favorites (and hilts of course) from KOTOR to TSL and then just play the game and enjoy it. I'll make new stuff after I have had time to play the game through a few times. :D Also, since you begin as a Jedi but with no lightsaber, I will probably play through twice like normal but from then on I will have to start with saber in hand. That will probably be my first project, something simple. (I was the same way with KOTOR)

 I'm sure you remember that the model format is the one thing that Obsidian has blanket stated has changed and there has been various conversations in regards to that fact all across the forum. Including This Thread Where somebody has had difficulties importing models from existing mods into TSL. Now it is very well possible that the game is forwards compatible meaning you can bring existing models from KOTOR 1 into the game but you don't have backwards compatibility meaning you can't bring TSL models into KOTOR 1. If that is the case then praise be to the non-existant.

meh, I don't want to bring models from TSL into KotOR, I want to use my home made models in TSL. The Reason I would say that The Custom models are not working in the xbox version of TSL is becuase The xbox just simply understand them. I have heard from a reliable source that the xbox version of KotOR CAN'T use the homebrew models Holowan users have made. The Xbox just doesn't know what its looking at.

Anyway Im not worried, I'm still gonna assume Obsidian didn't have enough time to Change the TSL engine enough to prevent KotOR's model format from working. :)
