TSL mod: another Influence thingy

Xcom

Recommended Posts

A MIND PROBE! :D

If you wear this head gear and speak to any of your party members, it will allow you to see your influence on them and (optionally) modify it. (modifying gives a bit DSPs).

Mind Probe v.1.1

Update!!!

One party member was missing from the ZIP package. I updated the main ZIP, but if you have already downloaded Mind Probe, get this little update instead, to add that character.

Missing Character Fix

Upon request: Script source

Yes, I didn't include source files on purpose simply because I wanted to get feedback from people first, in case something went wrong. As you probably have seen, compiled scripts turned out quite big thanks to those enormous <includes>.

Apparently, since nobody claimed Mind Probe screwed their game up :D, I'll post the source some time later.

For some reason handmaiden liked my Darkside guy... my guy was mean and killed anyone he could and for some reason she still liked him...

This sounds great I've already downloaded mine. However it would be nice if you listed for people in the future how they can obtain this in game with the release post. I'm going to assume by cheating but if not this kind of detail would be helpful. I am aware of how to get it from reading the readme however others like to know before they download. Other than that keep up the great work.

What exactly do you mean by "bug out"?

In my game, it just doesn't go beyond 100. That's true, but I didn't notice any bugs.

The bug I mostly heard about was it getting higher than 100 with KSE or such. Essentially, set it high 90s, then if it got over 100 for too many points in game, ti acted like it dropped the 1.

Anyway... Any chance that DSP can be more 'settable' on it? 2 per hit is fine for a LS game, there should be an option for those who want DS without always having to be a**cheeses, it migtht be nice for a heavier DS hit setting. ;)

Ah, I think I may have an explanation. There are indeed some replies in the dialogs which will only be avalaible if the character has influence between certain values. Eg. 40 - 60. If you have 100, you'll get Influence Failure response. This was just coded this way by Obsidian. That's why I actually included option to decrease influence. I so far have never seen influence actually dropping to 1 when it's beyond 100.

The probe is primarily meant to VIEW the influence. I'm sure someone would want LS points for this and whatnot, but I don't want this to be an item to cheat with your alignment. If you want, you can modify and recompile xc_inf_generic script (source available above)with whatever effects you desire.
