Jetstorm Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 I was wondering if anyone has created a nice saber color add-on pack for TSL. No special abilities or anything just more color crystals. Magenta, chartuse, aquamarine, cobalt, etc. If not, I have a dilemma: I have already made the texture files for the icons and saber blades and have played around with replacing existing colors with them. But I have been unable to figure out how to actually make NEW color crystals. They dont even have to be "in" the game. I just want to be able to use "giveitem" to get them. The Lone Badger Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 If you open up Kotor Tool, then expand BIFS -> Templates -> Blueprints, item , and then double click on u_l_colo_01 , you'll open up the item editor. Change the entries in 'Template ResRef' and 'Tag', then save the file somewhere. You'll end up with a .uti file that, if placed in your override folder, will add a new item to the game. In this case it will be a blue crystal indistinguishable in effect from all other blue crystals, but if you've edited existing crystals presumably you know how to edit things to give it a new color (I don't). Darkkender Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Okay a little bit more goes into adding a crystal into game beyond what was just mentioned above. If you would like to take a look at everything that goes into adding a new lightsaber with a new color and everything into the game Jetstorm. Might I suggest downloading my [TSL]Lightsaber construction at the workbench and Guardian Sabers mod if you haven't already. What you will want to do is look at the 2 item uti files as well as upgrade and upcrystals.2da files to find what you need to add and where. if you want your color crystal to create a new lightsaber with it's color you will have to hex edit the mdl file for a lightsaber to point to your new texture as well as the icon file. If this is the route you wish to take I would ask that you spend some time reading and sometimes rereading the tutorials stickies at the top untill you have it figured out. And if after all that there is still a specific question go ahead and ask. Here is a good tutorial to start with. The crystal now looks pink and has proper descriptions. I added changes to the mdl, uti, and 2da files for the crystal and the regular\short\double sabers. The problem is that in the upgrade window where you select the crystal, the entire saber is gone. when I go back to the game screen the person is weilding a standard blue saber. I am apparently missing something. I have a suspision it is a problem in the mdl file or in the 2da file. Either this is caused by an entry not matching or misentered. Also this type of problem can occur when you load a new model into an existing game. If you would like to archive up the files and send me a PM either requesting my email or with a link to the archive. I can take a look at it for you and lend you a hand. I plan to make: Aquamarine - (blue\green) Bronze - (dark gold) Chartuse - (yellow\green) Cobalt - (soft blue) Magenta - (purple\pink) Garnet - (dark red) Lavander - (light purple) Navy - (dark blue) I hope to be able to do this soon but I still have to try to wrap my mind around Darkkender's fixup. I like making special effect textures but the data editing gives me a migraine. Perhaps Darkkender would like to make a joint project of this. I supply all needed textures and he compiles the data. I have gotten all of the standard sabers completed with the new Hilt by Mav and I will be polishing up the double sabers this evening. Pending final approval of Jetstorm these should be complete and ready for download this weekend. I have also decided to update my guardian saber to using these new hilts as they are so Bad ass.
