DarthVaxis
Okay here's an anomaly for me. Bao Dur cannot wear robes, so, his force powers are always gonna be restricted, unless he wears just plain clothing. Bao-Dur has weak Dex (10 when you start, and it's more important to get other stats up than dex for him), so having +dex bonuses don't exist for him, so having lighter, less protective armor, is of no use. So, the most obvious choice for Bao-Dur would be wearing heavy armor, maybe mandalorian assault armor, etc. But WHAT? Not even after becoming a Jedi can Bao-Dur wear heavy armor. So he's permenantly left kinda gimped. So I had the idea to make him a gauntlet that gave him the bonus feat of heavy armor proficiancy. But then I go to equip some heavy armor and... *crash* kicks me out to the desktop. Anyone know why this happens, or anyway to solve this?
Xcom
Not sure but it can be similar problem which was discussed in this thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=145957
T7nowhere
The reason why this happends is because of the choices the Dev made. He wasn't set up to use the models g-n so basically he can't wear heavy armor because he doesn't have the models, so ya they gimped him.
DarthVaxis
I'm thinking it has to do with that (appearance.2da discrepencies), and the fact that heavy armor models don't have bao-dur arms built into them.... Well.. That at least gives me a place to start... though I doubt I'll be able to make the models with the arm built in, I'd just have to use the player body with Bao-Dur's head model. There is no way to solve this other than creating a whole new body for Bao-dur. The Dev's only created 5 body models for him. BAODUR_BB - Clothes model BAODUR_BC - Light armor BAODUR_BD - 2nd version light armor BAODUR_BE - Medium armor BAODUR_BF - 2nd version medium armor So until body models can be completly edited and new was created your only other choose is to edit the apperance.2da file and put which ever of his models you want him to use with that armor, ie: I placed his clothes model in column "modelg". If you just use the model from any other character his head will float above the body.
DarthVaxis
Well that's a pain. Cause to be frank, he looks ugly in his default clothes, and just about as ugly in all the light/medium armor he can wear. I was gonna stick him in some mandalorian armor. Like I said, he's a perfect candidate for heavy armor because his dex blows and he can't wear robes.
Arlen Treesong
IMO Bao-Dur is supposed to suck. He's a builder not a fighter, most of his lines outright tell you he's not comfortable with battle and on top of this, he has outrageous skills and can build almost anything in terms of upgrades. Apparently thats a bug, The npc's were not supposed to be able to use the workbench. Hm... I believe the bug is that it ever uses the other party member's skills at all, actually. I remember back when the workbench stuff was going into the game, I pushed for the workbench to respect the skill level of whichever NPC was using it, but the designer in charge of workbench wanted it so that the PC's skills were all that mattered when it came to using the Workbench to make it so that points spent in the repair skill for the PC were more valuable. I guess in the end you got something inbetween. -Akari 243399[/snapback]

How did it make it into the final game then? Did Obsidian just change their minds about it? All they'd have to do is add a restriction to the dialogue file that runs every time you examine a workbench that prevents the options of using it from appearing if the main PC isn't the leader... I remember reading something MCA wrote about that ages ago where he said the workbench WOULD use the others skills when yours went high enough ... Think it was MCA anyway. Nequam
Well, that's pretty much all that I used Bao-Dur for in the game... the workbench. He was so good at it too. Anyway, about giving him the Heavy Armour feat — the only way I think you'll get it to work right now is if you change the "appearance.2da" so that it uses his normal appearance model in place of a heavy armour model. It'll look funny, but it won't crash the game, right?

Or maybe the armour would become electrified... well, the metallic ones — they look like they'd be pretty conductive. Now wouldn't that be something? "Hey Bao-Dur..." Arlen Treesong
That makes me wonder though, if you're not supposed to use NPC on the workbench, then what exactly would Bao-Durs purpose be. I mean, disable shield only goes so far especially when he's gunned down before he can get close enough to disable it.
Achilles
LOL @ Arlen Treesong I know what you mean. Interestingly, the Tech Specialist class appears to be identical to the Scoundel class, with the execption of no AC bonuses (just like Scouts) and no Sneak Attack feats. I'm playing around with other ways to make him a little more useful. Right now I'm testing some modifications that I made to Remote. Hopefully that will help to unchain him from the workbench
Arlen Treesong
Care to share any insight on how the remote works? This will sound strange but I would really like to model a duck to follow my pc around...

Arlen Treesong
To put it simply, Bao Dur and Heavy Armor is like Al and Peggy Bundy. It's just never going to work.
General Kenobi
I remember once someone saying in a thread how to turn off the "no robes" for Bao-Dur. Would this make him able to wear robes? I mean providing I use KSE and change his appearance to someone who could normally wear robes.

I remember a thread where we discussed puppets and making thereof.
DarthVaxis
but hey, someone has to be the patsy. At least it's not T3-M4 this time. No joke, T3 is actually pretty fun in this game, with his renewable energy shield, shock arm, and with the right sensor upgrade, the ability to use a fully modified mandalorian heavy repeater He's also better with skills than Bao-Dur, cept Bao-Dur can wear a tech specialist belt and a skills package implant and skills enhancing visors/gloves. T3 naturally has higher int especially with your upgrades to him. A common party for me is Exile and his two Droid Pals, T3 and HK.. HK to terminate meatbags, and T3 to crack doors/swag containers, hack computers, and fix things. Also I boost his ability to disarm mines. It's a pretty fun party to have.
