Just as a heads up, if you're going to use another modeling program... it must be able to read/import/export ascii models. (assuming you're going to use it for KotOR & TSL) The reason why GMAX and MAX is popular is that a plug-in allowing you to mess around with ascii has already been made... Bob Lion54
Thanks for the heads up ChAiNz. I was aware of that, but I wasn't thinking about it at the time. Oh, and Milkshake is on there. I forgot about that program. It supports ascii, according to it's site. I tried modding Freelancer when it came out. I can't remeber where I found the toutorial but, is said something to the effect that GMAX was better(easier?) at mech work and Milkshake was better at texturing??? Modeling has me so confused.... Edit: actually, if Im not mistaking, that really does't matter with KotOR because the actual textures are targa....

Command3r
What modeling programs are recommended for modding KOTOR?

JediGandalf
Will that work? If I can bypass gmax all together that will be very good.

I believe the output file has to be a .mdl extension (just coded in ascii), but it almost looks as if it saves a model in a MAX ascii readable file. You could always try and see what MDLOps says about it (maybe even renaming the end extension)... on a sidenote.. I have to know where you got the MAC gui skin for Windows... I've been searching all over heck and highwater for that! I'll beg... hehehe

So does this mean, if it works, that this might be a new tool that could be used to inport, and outport models?

I'm just speaking blindly from what I 'see' without having prior testing or deeper understanding of model formats and infrastructure...
Shadow Blaze
Heh well eventually one of them will see this thread and wonder in and set us all straight as to if it is a viable program.
