TheProphet Posted April 11, 2005 Share Posted April 11, 2005 I have done some hefty investigating in the GUI Elements seciont(.gui) and I have found some interesting things. I know how they work and am able to alter them and add things like buttons and stuff like that. However, I am unable to figure out where the scripts are for each button, and gui node. I now know that galaxymap_p and _x.gui source back to the planetary.2da file for thier models but i have no idea where the scripts are for when you click a button. I know what the control types are, 4 is an image/text/model that shows but is unclickable or highlightable, 2 is pretty much a dummy element, and 6 is a clickable button. I have looked in the 2da.bif folder and combed all the scripts to find the source file for the gui elements. Basically what i am looking for is where the gui elements get their scripts that happen when you click a button, like when you clikc load in the load game gui, or when you start a new game and you are transported to 001EBO.rim. Or when you clikc on a movie in movies and it plays a movie, I would love to know how to do this, if anyone has looked into htis and knows if i can edit the scripst for gui elements help would be great, thanks. -GSCCC Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I bet you'll be able to figure out a really good way to put this information to use. Very cool that you found it. ________________________________________ Gui related, in the saber icons i noticed in one section there were two unique looking sabers. However, the fact stll remains that they are editable, and i did find a few interesting things in the main menu, buttons that, shouldnt be there. Like a warp button, it was never coded to be an actuall button but it looks as though the developers used it to quick warp to their moduls then turned it off in the final release. There is a lot of interesting stuff in there. I wonder though, what directs the main menu, with the 3dModelView tag to the Sion/Nihuls model? Because we know that the planets in the galaxymap gui were directed to the planetary.2da. I wonder if there is somethign similar, or not. Anyways, it was a good try I guess. T7nowhere Posted April 11, 2005 Share Posted April 11, 2005 You are right about the warp button, I remeber seeing the devs use it in one of the planet previews. I dont really know that much about editing the gui, I have looked at it a few times when I was trying to make a mod, But I never found a way to do what I wanted to I just deemed it a waste of time. I suppose you could change the dimensions of the buttons and reskin gui textures, But I think that is too much work for very little effect.
