Lynk Former
On another note, Nintendo has plans to turn the NDS into an internet phone (only to other NDS's) with DSpeak. Oh and Astro... here ya go: The PS3 + Controller. more images @ http://media.ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614619/imgs_1.html
toms
I'm not actually clear what multimedia capabilities it HAS, but they definately refered to it in that way. Probably marketing speak. They should just do a deal with skype. SkypeDS with skypeIn and skypeOut would rule...
Lynk Former
Nintendo has the most history in the gaming industry and the most experience. Yes, I am a fan of Nintendo, but I don't follow blindly and do consider the other two companies as very powerful figures in the gaming industry. Sony targets older gamers specifically and Microsoft goes even further to target those who would most likely stick with PC games. Nintendo on the other hand does things different. In fact they haven't changed in the last 20 years in terms of where they want to go. They have said it many times, they are about making games. And to further that, they are about making games for everybody. Because of this, many people believe that they are only meant for kids due to the marketting efforts of Sony and to a lesser extent, Microsoft. Sony is the assassin that is trying to destroy Nintendo, and it's no secret either lol. Nintendo has accepted that there are a lot of gamers out there who aren't satisfied with them. But they also know that their games are still very popular. They will continue to make Mario games, Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Smash Bros, Kirby, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, (I could go on and on lol) and all their other franchises as long as people still want them. And people do still want those games to be made. Nintendo is also introducing new franchises for the Nintendo DS and for the Nintendo Revolution. Nintendo has already confirmed that a new franchise is being created as we speak for the Nintendo Revolution. They have also made it clear that they will step up their production of exclusive games. And best of all, they have shown us that they will bring back all those games from the NES, SNES and N64 as well as the GCN backwards compatibility. 20 years worth of gaming history will be available on their next generation console. However Nintendo isn't stuck in the past. They have stated very clearly that they hope to make an impact and head into the future of gaming and do things that the other two companies would never do. Like the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo Revolution hopes to change the way people see games with a new interface. Nintendo also hopes to make games easier to develop and we already know that the Nintendo Revolution will be the easiest console to develop for. We also know that Nintendo is using regular sized DVDs for the Revolution. Games will be cheaper on the Revolution than they will be on the Xbox360 and the PS3. Developers will find it easier and cheaper to makes games for the Revolution which will encourage a lot of third party support. It will also encourage a lot of developers who are just starting in the business and don't have that much money to develop games but have great ideas. No the Revolution will most likely not be the most powerful system in the next generation lineup, but it will be the most efficient, the cheapest, and the one with 20 years of Nintendo history to back it up as well as features that won't be found on the competitors systems. In recent interviews it has been stated that the controller for the Revolution will include many features that the other two companies will not have, but it will also be able to play games traditionally because of the 20 years worth of backward compatibility. We will be able to control all of the legacy games with the Revolution controller which will also have those unique features which will make Nintendo stand apart from the rest. Nintendo has also stated very clearly that they are going to provide free online support for the Nintendo Revolution just as they are with the Nintendo DS. Everything will be free, and available for anyone who owns a Revolution and/or DS. Nintendo has also stated that they are working towards attracting people who AREN'T gamers. And so far they have done an extremely good job of doing that with the Nintendo DS. Nintendo is aiming to open up a new group to the gaming industry while they also please those who have stuck with them all the way. They're also attracting people who like the old days of Nintendo's history. Nintendo won't be the top dog of the next generation. But they will do a lot better in the next generation than they have this generation. I'm certain that they will be able to secure a comfortable 2nd place spot in the next generation. Mike Windu
Smash Bros Now! I like the WiFi feature that Nintendo is putting in. That means I can play the Revolution without all those cords in my computer and stuff Supposedly Revolution isn't the console's final name, either. >_>
