Cracker Jack
I've been trying to make items upgradeable in the Workbench in KotorII, so far, without luck, so I though I'd ask for some advice. Does anyone how to make a normally un-upgradeable item, like a Blaster Carbine, upgradeable? Thanks
Mono_Giganto
Open it in a GFF editor. There should be a field somewhere called "Upgradable" or "Upgradability" or something. Change that from 0 to 3, and it should do the trick. (For Guns) 0 = Not Upgradeable 1 = Scope 2 = Scope, Chamber 3 = Fully Upgradeable I'm not familiar with the different settings for other types of weapons, but they should be easy to figure out. Cracker Jack
/me slaps himself. Wow. That should have been fairly obvious. Oh well, got it working now, thanks very much for the really quick response!
Darth InSidious
What about lsabre upgrade nos?
Mono_Giganto
I'm not too sure on lightsabers. I found the info on guns by loking at the uti of a non-upgradeable gun, a scope only gun, a scope-and-chamber gun, and a fully upgradeable gun. By default, all lightsabers in TSL are fully upgradeable, so you'd have to experiment to find out which value does what. Though I'm pretty sure it's just: 0 = Not Upgradeable 3 = Fully Upgradeable
Darth InSidious
Thanks! Also, do you know how to disguise a weapon as a different type, say a blaster as a gaffi stick?
Mono_Giganto
Uh, the gaffi stick is a double-sword model. To turn it into a rifle, you'd have to import the Gaffi stick into gmax or another modelling program, import a blaster rifle, delete the blaster rifle from the scene, link the bullethook to the gaffi stick, link the gaffi stick to the scene root, hit resetxform, and export. Hey Mono any ideas on why you can change this in Kotor Tool and save the item and then still no upgrade available? I've tried with different items to no avail. How would the Gaffi stick work meaning animation wise? would it be able to then pose like you were shooting a blaster rifle with it extended like a gun at your shoulder? Or would it fire looking like a melee weapon just firing point at the bullet hook you assign?
Mono_Giganto
1. Since this is a new feature in TSL, I don't think Fred ever got to fully incorporating the upgrade variable. He's MIA now... Come back Fred!!! We miss you. A good work around to using the GFF editor is to base your item off an ingame item with the same level of upgradeability. For example, if you want a fully upgradeable heavy blaster, start with the Heavy Zabrak blaster pistol when making your item. 2. Well, when you import the gaffi stick into your modelling program, you can rotate and manipulate it's geometry so that it does in fact sit in the hands like a rifle. The only issue I see is it may not like right in the "grip" area, due to the short fat disc thing there, but you can give it a shot.

But I will edit that later to state you need a GFF Editor for the uti file.

RedHawke
Originally posted by jedigoku um I did read it though No, you didn't, or else you would not have made the posts you did... as there is no mention of an editor in the Upgrade part of that tutorial at the bottom... hence you didn't read it (lately), once again... silly goku! *We have cluttered up this thread enough about this subject jedigoku so we should let it drop now.* EDIT: I am changing that tutorial to tell people they do need a GFF Editor for editing items... so at least some good came out of this! EDIT 2: Tutorial Updated with link to Tools thread for GFF Editor. Thanks to Jedigoku for pointing this out!
RevanA4
agreed but if you have already read it here is a good editor click here
General Kenobi
EDIT: I am changing that tutorial to tell people they do need a GFF Editor for editing items... so at least some good came out of this! Thanks for the update to the TUT Hawke I always wondered how I could get around that, the starting with an already upgradable item is good for me cause its only a uti and we change all that stuff anywho when we mod stuff. I'm glad to know how to use another editor to do it and sort of "unmarry" Ktool from my use this only line of thinking. I downloaded it ages ago but never tried to use it. Thanks again to Mono and Hawke General Kenobi
RevanA4
um kotor tool the upgrade level doesn't stick it just goes back to zero so you need to use something else like the link i posted
General Kenobi
sort of "unmarry" Ktool from my use this only line of thinking. Meaning I need to flex a muscle and use another tool other than Kotor Tool to edit a uti. I know kotor tool has an issue with this. That's why I mentioned it to Mono
