Orhek
Okay, I put all the necessary files into KoToR tool's ERF builder to create a module, and everything works except one thing: the npc. For some strange reason, my Selkath npc didn't appear in the module where he was supposed to. He didn't spawn at all. All I got was an empty droid shop with no npc. Could someone tell me what I should do to find the problem? Please note that I'm modding the first KoToR because I don't have TSL for the PC. tk102
How were you trying to spawn the NPC? Using the .git file to place him or via script?
Orhek
I'm trying to place him through the .git file. As you might have guessed, I'm new to modding, and can't seem to figure out the problem.
Darth333
Oh...ic here are a few things to check: 1. check your .utc file and make sure the templateresref and the filename are the same. Make sure it is no more than 16 characters. Also, unless you have a specific reason to do so, use the same thing for the tag. 2. Check the 'type' fieldfor each new entry in the .git file. Example: screenshot 1. 3. Check the field ID: it should be the same as the Field name: if the Field name is Tag, then put Tag in Field ID. Example: screenshot 2. Orhek
I still can't figure it out, so I'll put up a .zip with the .utc and .git files inside. If you have the time, I'd like you to take a look at the files with the gff editor and see what the problem is. Thanks. ZIP
tk102
Looks like your .utc file lost its .utc extension. You'll need that.
Orhek
I can't believe I missed that. The module works now, thanks for the help!
Orhek
Okay, I've started making a module based on the Endar Spire, but the npc isn't appearing. Before you ask, YES, I did put the .utc extension on the file. I just can't find anything wrong with the .git or the character file. I'll put up another .zip and check back in about 10 hours. Darth333
Check your .git file at the Creature TemplateResRef field: you have extra spaces after Orhek. Same thing in the .utc file in the conversation field: there are additional spaces after the name of the .dlg file. Make sure you don't add spaces or press enter when you edit those fields. Just use the backspace key to fix it.

Strange for some reason I have never had to change the templateresref to get npc's to show up, for me it works fine just using the npcname in the .git and he will show up. For example: When i put charles in the onderon module, his templateresref was n_darthnihulls, all you have to do really is make sure the name of the .utc file matches the name in the .git. Works for me that way, though with party npc's i use the TemplateResRef. -GSCCC
