SteveBB
Are renders of 3D models allowed?
VampireNaomi
I don't know how those are made, so I'm not sure. Are they just computer-created art that is in 3D? I guess they are fine, unless someone objects.
SteveBB
3D renders like this: (just something I worked on a while ago and should really finish some time )
Sallim
Wow really nice! How long you have worked on that? I onced tried the Calavera Café in the unreal 2003 editor...well but it sucked, and I decided to make the LSA insteadwith 3dsmax. What program did you use? And as far as I can tell, the moddeling looks very clean! nice one!
James Isaac
Yeah, that's great. Good luck with finishing it Wow really nice! How long you have worked on that? I onced tried the Calavera Café in the unreal 2003 editor...well but it sucked, and I decided to make the LSA insteadwith 3dsmax I started the outside of the Department of Death (for the GF Half Life 2 mod) using HL2's map editor. It's recognisable, but it has a load of details which would need to be done as models in another program, and I can't do those myself. So far the only model we've finished to decorate the front of the building is a lamp-post by Xebozone . Doing the whole thing will take a while... SteveBB
This is the first large scale project I started on after switching from 3DSMax to Maya. I just absolutely love maya, I find it easier to model in Maya than in Max, but that's just personal preference. I might do the DOD in Maya too some time. I tried it once in Valve Hammer, but I didn't really like what I made so I quit that
Sallim
maya maya..everybody likes maya... I dont think i will be better in maya ^_^

VampireNaomi
Those are fine with me. It apparently takes a lot of time and trouble to create those, so go ahead. And those look very nice, even to someone with such untrained eyes as mine.

Alia
Hey, I'm supposed to be up, awake, and at work in four or five hours! This is the perfect thing to help me put off going to bed. In other words, I have labored over an entry and will scan and post tomorrow. EDIT: Clicky!
VampireNaomi
I love the sketchy look of that one. And the fingers.
James Isaac
Hey, When is the winner going to be announced, and the next competition start? I don't think there are going to be any more entries for this one. By the way, great picture Alia
Rubacava
Sorry, I was on vacation! This was very difficult. I loved the coloring on James Isaac's, and both Naomi's and Alia's made me laugh out loud. I think I'm going to go for Alia's though. Good job everyone! Alia
Sweet, sweet fame and glory! Thanks! Anyway, here's the new challenge for our talented fan-artists... Recreate a famous piece of art with a Grim Fandango twist! For example, draw American Gothic with Manny, Meche, and a scythe. It'd probably be good to post an image of the original piece along with your entry. (Another great example is that Nighthawks picture on the Church of Tim website.) Good luck, everyone! FleA_
I've made a "remake" of the scream:) you can find it here and you can find the orginal here note that i'm still pretty new with photoshop but i think it turned out pretty good:)
SteveBB
For my entry I took the Mona Lisa and made my own version. For those of you that don't know what the Mona Lisa looks like: check it out! and my own version: check it out! This was modeled, rigged, posed and rendered pretty quickly but I kinda like the end result, I don't like her smile, though. Made in Maya, edited in Photoshop
James Isaac
Wow, those are both amazing . FleA_ you really made the style of Manny and his scythe look the same as the original painting. And Steve, well, great modelling . I won't be entering anything this time though... I wouldn't be very good at this type of challenge.
SteveBB
I was wondering when this contest is coming to an end, and is anyone else going to enter?
Alia
Well, I read something at the beginning of the thread about each round lasting five days and I don't think we're going to get any more entries...so...I guess I should do some judging and choose a winner. Man, they're both so cool. Can I call it a toss-up, or do I really have to pick one?
