F.E.A.R., pwn or groan?

Not liking the level design is one thing but saying something absolutely false about the demo is entirely different.

What would be false? That the colorscheme in the demo is green-grey? Well the color-scheme in the demo is definitely based around and dominated by the green-grey and its nuances... oh ok, throw in some beige for good measure.

Here is a link to some screenshots for FEAR so anyone can make up their own mind about my color-distinction problem: screenshots. Maybe it's just me.

and besides, if your just in it for the graphics, well, i won't really go there.

I didn't mention anything about graphics. I've got nothing against the LithTech engine. I've always prefered it above Quake and Unreal (which most FPS used... until recently). My beef was with the color scheme.

but come on, you didn't notice how intelligent the AI was and how much detail went into the psychotic/crap-your-pants sections were??

I did notice and they were completely awesome! And you could see that the boys really did their homework on horror-movies. But my overall impression was dragged down by the general dullness and drabness.

and whats wrong with having a neutral color scheme??

The simple answer is that - it's dull. I point towards Aliens VS Predator 2. A game made by the same Monolith in a similar setting. Some sci-fi, some military locales and uniforms, some green-grey colors, but still it didn't look dull. Here are some screenshots for AvP2, to illustrate my point. Again I say, maybe it's just me, what do you think?

I like Monolith, I'm a fan. I have both NOLF's and AvP2 and I think those are the best story-driven FPS there are. And I enjoyed being freaked by the little girl in FEAR, but as I said earlier, the general drabness made it so that it didn't click with me.

Perhaps it's only the area. Besides, why would people make a horror game in a joyfully colored world?

It is just you. There's a lot more then grey and green and their shades in those screenshots.
