Tysyacha
I just recently read the book "Feed", by M. T. Anderson. It was absolutely fantastic, even though it's a "young adult novel" and 26-year-olds are supposed to be mature "beyond such things". In it, Titus and his friends Quendy, Link, Calista, and Loga have it all. Knowledge is at their fingertips, or should I say, at their brain waves' whims? Each of them has a "feed", or transmitter, implanted into his or her brain. The feed allows you to learn new knowledge in the blink of an eye and "chat" each other almost telepathically. However, the feed is mostly a constant barrage of ads. It tells you where to shop, what to buy, and what spots are now "hot". Titus can't imagine living without the feed's input. Then Titus meets Violet, an enigmatic and intellectual girl whose feed was implanted later in her life. Most people had feeds from birth, but Violet's feed was implanted when she was six years old. When a hacker attacks, Titus and all of his friends are affected except Loga, but Violet's "hack attack" is the most severe. She teaches Titus about true love and "resisting the feed", but will her lessons be enough to save him when tragedy strikes again? If any of you have read this book, please respond here! I might have a discussion/writing prompt for me and y'all if enough folks post. "Chat" me, my fellow "feeders"!
90SK
Well, I certainly find the word "feed" hilarious. That hardly counts, though. I'll take your recommendation under consideration! I'm always looking for a good read.
