Hey! what's up, well im new here to the member list but i have been playing kotor 2 for awhile now. just wondering if it was possible to change a character's voice while their talking to you into someone else's? I was thinking it would be cool to change kreia into anakin but when i did he had her voice. even if it was possible to take away the voice it would be neat. if this is in the wrong section or if someone has already asked this my bad.

It depends... If they are speaking English, then you need someone to do a voice over. If they are speaking alien, then you have a limited pallette to choose from. It all depends on what you are trying to do. If you want to change the voice of the person who is speaking, but keep the same dialogue, you would have to have someone create a new voice over with the same lines.

WELCOME TO LUCASFORUMS! :) :) :)

well, would it be possible to take her voice out completely? just looked at the game directory and saw the folder for stream voice, so if i deleted the files with kreia in the name would it work or would it mess up the game?

I never tried that, but I think the dialogue will remain, but her lips will not move. At least she won't have a voice...

Well i did a search through the stream voice folder for kreia and deleted all the files that showed up. i started a new game and when I reached kreia it skipped directly to where you tell her you thought she was dead. it doesnt show what she is saying, except for the words at the top of the screen when you're choosing what to say. basically the audio is gone but the video goes with it. i guess if you played the game so many times that you know every word she says then it would work but do any of you have any ideas?

i would guess you record your voice and replace another one...but you cant use windows media player to listen to the clips so i dont know how you would know what your replacing.. it seems like there would have been someone who created some tool.

The whole issue of taking away kreia's voice. i think there must have been a video or image type of file mixed up in the audio clips.

So is there a way where you can take the audio files and replace them with silence? if i just recorded nothing then saved the file with the same name as one in the streamvoice folder, would it still have kreia's lips moving without the words?

All of the files are wave sounds and i can't get windows media to play it, do you know of a program that does?

If you wanted to save yourself trouble, then you could always use a program to lower and change the pitch of the voice so it sounds masculine. Of cource, there is over 400 lines for Kreia. And if you want complete silence for a specific sound then simple decrease it down to zero. Audacity is a pretty good free program to use.

Unless a duration is set manually for each dialog node, it will delay/pause at each line a character says for the duration of the attached voiceover sound. If you remove the sounds, they obviously have no duration, and the dialog does not pause at all on the entries and won't stop until it reaches a node where a player response is required. Thus it does show what she's saying, it just does it so fast that you won't see it. If you check the Conversation log you'll see that all the text is there.

The only way around this, as far as I know, is to either go through all the dialog files and set the duration field for each entry to a value (in seconds) other than -1, or to replace the sound files with sound files containing silence (i.e. not empty sound files), where the silence lasts for as long as you wish the text of the dialog node to remain on screen.
