Krowser
Hi there, I have been experiencing a frustrating bug and I searched many forums in hope of finding someone with the same problem. no luck So here it is: The secret cave (Korriban). When I enter it, after Kriea says do you want to enter. The loading screen appears and loads to about 3/4. At that point it stops, my computer works really hard, and Kotor crashes. I have done every other planet, every other mission area, whatever in the meantime hoping that when I come back ill be able to enter without problems. Its only at this cave that it crashes. no luck I also installed the Holowan plugin, didnt work either. System specs: Windows Xp Prof SP2 AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2200mhz) ATI Radeon 9600 XT (256mb) (Catalyst 5.7) 1024 mb RAM Direct X 9.0c Kotor2 1.0b with the Holowan Plugin I also found this log: AR_ERROR.LOG Names Differ: N_DarthBand pmbmm The names changed since the last crash Thank you for the help. Darth333
hmmm honestly I never used the Plug-in. I checked the files a long time ago but I don't have them anymore .You might want to check that thread in case I missed something: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=149994 perhaps someone more familiar with the mod can help you out. You previously played the game without problems, didn't you?
Krowser
Forget the mod, I installed it in hopes of fixing the problem. It has nothing to do with the mod
The Doctor
I had the same problem whenever I tried using cheats and/or mods, but not if I was going through it without. Hope that helps a little...
Krowser
Nope, removing mods causes my save games to crash while loading
Darth333
Hmmm well try updating your video drivers but I doubt that will do it. Did you tried to reload a previous savegame?
stingerhs
its possible that your hard drive page file is running out of space, although i have to wonder if your hard drive should even be getting paged at all given the memory you have on your computer. if for some odd reason thats the problem, you could try going into the graphics settings and turning the textures to the lowest settings. that should eliminate any memory issues. after the level is loaded, you should be able to just switch back to the high or medium settings with no problems. Krowser
It cant be that because it still crashes if i reboot, start KOTOR, load my game where im right next to the entrance and walk in the cave. I played for something like 6 straight hours and didnt have any problems. And besides, my paging file is like 2 gigs, + 1 gig of ram. The engine would have to be monstrously flawed to find a way to waste 3 gigs of memory into textures. Are there any scripts that run when you enter there? I could warp to that Area... I seriously doubt that there isint a cutscene or something important at the start thought so its probably not a good idea
Darth333
ok, here's a little extreme solution. I don't know if it will work and make a backup of your savegame before trying it. Open Windows-Explorer and Kotor 2. Right before entering the tomb, switch to the Windows-Explorer (Alt-Tab) and go to your Kotor2 Directory. You should see a folder called "gameinprogress". Inside this folder should be a file called 711KOR.sav. Erase it. Then go back to your game and try entering the module.
Krowser
I found 710kor.sav, not 711. didnt work What is it supposed to do anyway? BTW the error code is 0xC0000005 And also, could I send you my save game and you could enter the tomb, save, and send it back to me?
Darth333
Ah no, it can't work as you didn't entered the module before. Check your PMs

Krowser
Tried it, just in case because i've tried retarded fixes on other games and it worked before. didnt work though. do you have the holowan plugin installed? I could send you my save, you could enter the cave and save over. Darth333 didnt have it so the game didnt even load.
