Myspace anyone?

So who here uses the internet abomination that is Myspace?

Here's mine

It seems everyone and their dog has one these days.

I have an interesting question, which you may be able to answer. First, I want to place it into context, so you know where I am coming from. I grew up during the 80s, and the world was very different. When technology started a more agressive move in the mid-1990s, everyone who was involved knew how unsafe it is to place personal information online. What is interesting to me is that creditcard information is stolen from the most secure servers in the world. You can't watch the news without hearing about how people get their identity stolen, and it comes from savy people getting a hold of personal information.

My question is:

Why do you believe it is safe, in anyway, to place your picture, where you live, and other personal information online?

All it takes is a person who is good at Photoshop, and with a quick 'save to disk' click they can grab you picture. Then they can apply it to an ID. On-top of that, they can copy and paste your information, create a bogus name, and bang they have partially-stolen your identity.

Does having a blog feel safe?

I have a hardtime using my name in emails.

Meh. The only myspaces I ever visit are ones run by bands or musicians. There was a great flamefest between Axl Rose and Scott Weiland on the Velvet Revolver site not too long ago.

Lol... Man. If you want to experience being drunk without touching anything, watch a battle between Axle Rose and any muscian. Lol...

^^^Heh, apparently, Axl made up some police report that said Slash had showed up at his place at 5am one day delcaring that he hated Duff, Matt, Scott and Dave (the rest of Velvet Revolver, for those of you who live under rocks) and begged Axl to work with him again, yadda yadda yadda. Scott Weiland's response was just classic before it was pulled. That's the real value of those sites; you can get the unfiltered-through-ten-publicists responses sometimes. Great reading.
