soulmatrix Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 What tactics do you guys use during a land battle, when the rebellion has seemingly like 25 artillery units that just decimate all of the emipres ground forces with ease? Even trying to move in quickly with speeders, maulers, tanks, I still get cremated, and can never lift the fog of war large enough to shoot my artillery units at thiers. Any suggestions. And for those who play on hard level, how do you do it? Thanks.
mikemil828 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 What I do: pull all my forces under my shield (if I have one) except a couple spotter units then sensor ping where you think the arty is, once you find them, call in a bomber strike. the arty will not be able to get out of the way in time, mop up any survivors.
gswift Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 The best thing for killing rebel arty is Vader. Next would be the Emperor, Boba Fette or Mara Jayde. Boba is particularly good because he can fly. When the artillery fires, it reveals itself from the FOW, so you can see where to send Boba. Besides using heros, I like to take AT-AT's with AT-AA and/or SPMA following. When the AT-AT reaches the inevitable first line of defense (infantry, tanks, and turrets) call in the bombers. Then you walk up and kill the artillery, deploy storm troopers, and bring fast units like speeders and maulers up from the rear. Use the infantry spawned from the AT-AT to quickly take build pads and you're all set. I think that's what the AT-AT was set up for in this game. It brings infantry into areas that they couldn't reach otherwise. Trying to use emperial artillery to counter rebel artillery hasn't worked well for me.

Nakatomi2010 Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 You guys just made me realize why my planet raids in single player as Rebels was so easy... I had those spotters spotting for me... I feel as though my Imperial career will be met with much difficulty....
sandzibar Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 build pads with sensor nodes are your friends.... ATAT's have a really nice range on thier main weps.. and Veer's powerfull area attack shot is mighty useful.
