Battlestar
I have managed to complete the first few missions in the Empire campaign but I'm getting to the point where I'm getting overwhelmed. This is my first RTS like this (they only other one I played to death was Galactic Battlegrounds). So since this one is a different type of game I'm starting to get my ass kicked on a regular basis, and I'm embarassed to admit its on Easy. Please help a guy out. Hartmrolf
Actually it helps very much to conquer ALL other planets before going into a mission. Also you should regulary fortify your planets, because as you discovered the AI can be quite nasty.

wedge2211
Try to limit the number of planets on your front line--that way you can concentrate your defensive forces in the "bottlenecks" the enemy would have to pass through to reach your inner systems. You don't even have to have ANY forces on those systems (especially if they have buildings/stations with garrisons). Keep your space stations and factories continuously building units--there's no reason to build up a huge number of credits "in the bank" unless you're about to roll over into the next mission. Build lots of mines if you're feeling strapped for cash--especially on Coruscant, which has an enormous base income. And finally, If you see an enemy force building up within striking distance but it's not yet a dangerous threat, even the Empire can stoop to a hit-and-run to nip that in the bud--particularly if you can take out a high-level space station to force the enemy to rebuild. Remember that as you see an attack force build up, some (or many) of the disks in the stack of enemy units might be transports which are both vulnerable to any attack and not a threat to your space units in a battle. (PS: BSG rocks.)
Spaxspore
I already beat the imps on Med difficutly, trick is once u past the 3-4 missino mark take your time, capture some planets and build up a relative large fleet for going on to the next mission. gswift
If you're new to RTS, then try this. It's simpler, but it probably wouldn't work against real people. "Good against remotes is one thing. Good against the living? That something else." Don't bother defending any planets except the one where the Emperor is. Use that planet to build all your units, and keep a defending fleet there. Build one other fleet for attack and keep it busy ALL THE TIME. You'll catch the AI off guard. Follow that space attack fleet with a single ground assault force that contains at least two of each thing you can build and some extra infantry. That's about all you'll ever really need to beat the AI. Never attack without bombers, and remember to use them EVERY time the recharge timer resets. On each planet you capture, just build one barracks, one light factory, and the best space station money can buy. That should be enough for defense most of the time, and it's alright to lose a planet once or twice. Use the remaining building slots for mines. By mid-game you'll have more credits than you'll need for the rest of the game (like 300,000 credits) and you can sell off some of the mines if you want. Keep in mind the previous comments about not completing any objectives until you've captured all other visible planets. That's good advice. I beat the AI in less than two hours with the above strategy, but I think taking my time with a more complicated strategy is more fun.
popcorn2008
I would recommend capturing every planet except the planet that your mission is on first. Take your time as well, and if you must retreat. Even the vets have to retreat sometimes, and it helps to save your units for later use. Just remember to take your time, but then again don't take too much time or else the enemy will gain time to build up a fleet to attack.
DarkLord1981
The AI never attacked me ever, unless it was scripted in the Story. My only problem is the AI seems to use the exact counters to my units every single time...no matter what i used, they would counter it. I would reload over and over again and use different units, they would magically have the exact counters....annoys me to no end.

From my experiences with RTS, this has a really nice pace to it. There are times in Battlegrounds that I wished it would move faster.
