Maxstate
I dont have a comparison shot, but I was growing tired of how unrealistic and unmovie-like the saber blades looked in JKA. The blades appeared to be coming out of thin air and not the hilt and were misshaped. This is my version: Still some finishing touches to be made, like that little dot above the tip of the blade. Dont know what it is and I dont know if its fixable, looking at it now. Comments? I was thinking of making a series of similar blades for all the colours as a standalone mod, and handing them over to Razor if you guys like them. Ofcourse if Razor wants them I did this for Kotor2 about a year ago, but after some beta-testing by users my colours turned out to be very similar to the default ones. I just gave up hope on it after that. Oh and you low resolution guys, dont forget that that picture can be enlarged! Edit: Temporary others: And in comparison to normal blades: Some more (crappy) comparison pics: = a base saber to avoid any confusion. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/LOOKATEET.jpg
Vruki Salet
That dot at the tip is a tiny bit of the base of the blade being repeated, I think. That's what my experiments showed. I made a blade a lot like yours (which are nice btw) except without that dot or dash. Unfortunately that came at the expense of the sabers looking a little short. The only other way I could figure out how to get rid of it was to make the base of the blade taper too, like the tip, but it looked kinda weird. Oh or the other way is to make the blade fade out before it gets down to the emitter, like the original ones in the game.
Maxstate
Oh or the other way is to make the blade fade out before it gets down to the emitter, like the original ones in the game. Which is exactly what im trying to prevent After playing with these a while I've noticed that the tiny dot isn't even noticeable if you're not out to find it hehe. More screens anyone? Here's a little saber collage I made with different hilts showing off the new blades and colours, note that red isnt final yet and I want your opinions on how it should look. Im trying to style it more towards the near-transparent episode 3 red that you could see dooku used. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/Sabercollage.jpg From left to right: A kotor hilt, Vader, vader again, Luke and Dooku. Jpeg really doesnt do them good, anyone up for some ingame beta-testing? My msn is in my profile.
Vruki Salet
Your sabers do look good but myself, I can't stand the dot and always see it. The colors are nice and rich too. Alot like the ones I like and use, except the purple. I've found a nice purple, bluer and more "ultraviolet" looking than the movies but easy on the eyes. Mine anyway. Maxstate
You cant even see the dot unless you bring the sabers real close up, and most of the time you'll just be slashing. I know what you mean. These colours are still experimental, just a sec. I can darken it even further, but im going for the Windu effect so here: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0355.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0358.jpg I've blurred the glows a bit, looked too solid. I'll post screenies tomorrow. Heh: ep3blades http://www.stardestroyer.net/ROTS/Dooku-1.jpg http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/?action=view¤t=Mynewsabers.jpg They look better ingame, anyone willing to betatest ;0? I've made some changes to the blades, not enough to change the place where it comes out of the hilt but enough to make the dot non-visible: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0414.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0415.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0419.jpg Someone needs to try them ingame for me! Vruki Salet
Thanks. Here are mine too if you want to compare: http://www.taddia.com/vruki/vrukis_saber_blades.zip I think the colors are based on the ep3 blades mod but I'm not 100% sure. It's been awhile and I might have mixed & matched. I know the shapes are inspired by that mod but I by the time I was done they were essentially new. ensiform
why is there an extra force meter sticking out on your shots?
JRHockney*
why is there an extra force meter sticking out on your shots? Umm....I take it that you've never played Enhanced? The extra force meter is the DP (Dodge Point) meter. It is your lifeline in Enhanced and allows you to block hits and dodge when your defense is down blah... blah... blah.... its all detailed in the Enhanced manual in the Enhanced folder after you download it...blah... blah..blah. Give it a shot. Its saber system is all based on the movies and its the main project we work on here. I will warn you that learning the saber system if a fairly steep learning curve, but I'm pretty sure its worth it. Btw, I have my own saber mod as well, but I'm not sure I'd call it movie realistic. Its probably more like the old films than the new, except for the pointly end. I made it the way I thought they should look.
razorace
That would be OJP Enhanced's Dodge meter.
Maxstate
Awesome to see so much customization going 'round in OJP!
Kurgan
Nice new sabers. You can talk to Lath if you need help fixing any texture glitches there as he's done some work with saber blades too. Submit your updated files to LucasFiles.com and we can post them! (If they aren't there already)
Maxstate
Im actually still trying to perfect them. Reworked a lot of the colours and shapes, I've managed to make the blade a lot longer and still look like the previous ones (I cant get the hilt and blade in one pic anymore ). I've also reworked blue to look a bit lighter like ep3, though dark saber lovers dont fret, I still have dark blue and can release it in the same pack if anyone wants it The tips are fixed save for green, and thats what Im working on right now. -Blue http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0105.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0109.jpg -Green with and without dynamic glow http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0113.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0112.jpg -Purple is made to look like Windu's http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0114.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0115.jpg And I've made red look a lot like Dooku's saber from the films: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0106.jpg http://simonz.co.hu/wallp/ep2/1024/geo-dooku.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0116.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0117.jpg As I said, I'll try to finish off green by today and release it. Green looks a bit fat in the dynamic glow picture but I assure you thats just an illusion Dont forget to zoom the pictures.
Vruki Salet
Oh nice. I've been preferring pointed-tip ones lately but you're flat-tipped ones are good enough to make me reconsider.
Kurgan
Ah pointy tips like ROTS, and rounded tips like AOTC. Speaking of those, the ROTS sabers look wicked, but sound wimpy (in the movie). The coolest sound for sabers is for the ones in Return of the Jedi. They sound bada$$!
Maxstate
Goddamnit. Its either choosing for a beautiful tip, or assurance that you see the blade coming out of the hilt. Well I choose for the latter, I'll update this in some 10 hours.
Lathain Valtiel
Don't worry about the tip. For some reason the 'base repeats itself' glitch is not present in TCK's RGB Sabers, it's some weirdness in how Raven rendered their blades that the RGB Sbaers avoids by taking a background texture for the color, and molding it around a blade texture, whereas Raven mixed both glow and color files. It's very weird. However, it means that if you use the RGB Sabers options, you not only get to make your own color but evade the tip glitch if you do it well. Just be sure to make it compatible with RGB Sabers! To do it: Do not put any glow color in the rgb_line (Basically just make it the core and the core only, no glow) file, copy that rgb_line file into rgb_core, make a greyscaled glow for rgb_glow2. If you want I'll teach you how to make it compatible with the Black Sabers.
Vruki Salet
I like your tips fine Maxstate, reminds me of the OT.
Maxstate
I dont know how much you'd mind (almost like an OCD to me, perfecting things) but the tips only look like that from a distance. Once you get a bit closer there's some minor distortion going on. Lath, so I should desaturate my _line's and rename them to rgb_line? Edit: though they still look like OT tips hehe
Vruki Salet
Maxstate, the saber shapes you have in pictures such as this: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0105.jpg are not the same as the ones I downloaded from your earlier link. I'd like to have a set like the one that pic. Can I have it?
Maxstate
Maxstate, the saber shapes you have in pictures such as this: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/Maxstate/shot0105.jpg are not the same as the ones I downloaded from your earlier link. I'd like to have a set like the one that pic. Can I have it? As I said, they look different as you move your camera further and closer away from the blades. I can make it look like that, but it'll produce a bit shorter blades than normal (unoticeable). Still want me to do it?
Maxstate
Try this one: http://www.freefileupload.net/file.php?file=files/180506/1147946980/Blue_Line.jpg You know where to put it I guess Tell me what you think.
Vruki Salet
Not bad. What I'm thinking about doing, at least eventually, is to make each saber have a blade shape assigned in it's .sab file, with a default shape coded in (maybe different for each color) for .sab files that haven't been edited to include it. Would you mind if I used your shape as an option? Here are some pics of what I've settled on atm for my own use: http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/01.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/02.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/03.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/04.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/05.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/06.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/07.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/08.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/09.jpg http://www.taddia.com/vruki/saberbladepics/10.jpg
