hi, i just got into skinning in KOTOR II: TSL and have come across a problem everytime i try to reskin an item and make a new item with it. currently im trying to mod the dark padawan robe into a new robe. i have the skin i want for it finished, and the stats done.

the problem is when i place it ingame (using the KOTOR save editor) theres no icon in my inventory for it (i dont know how to do this part at all) and the skin doesnt apply to the robe, it defaults to the normal padawan robe skin.

All you need to do is place the tga file for the skin in your override folder. As to the icon there will be a tga file that a texture file title "ia_robeXX" where XX = the texture number. There may be a mstr in front of the robe or something else. Double check baseitems.2da to find the default icon model for your robe. This will tell you what the icons name will start with usually. We do have a few item editing tutorials and they do help walk through locating the proper files.

thanks for pointing me in the right direction jackel and darkkender. now i just have one more question, in T7nowhere's tutorial this part confuses me:

So now if you have your armor uti, you know that the body Var is F and the Texture Var is 7, so this is what we have F07 and since this is a PC armor the rest of the file name would be PFBF07 and PMBF07. To extract a texture Double click the filename and the image viewer will pop up, what you will see is the texture a small box that is used to display additional information for the texture. To extract this info with the texture check the Export Selection to TXI file, and then highlight the text you want and hit the Write File button now you will have the texture and text file(.txi) with the same name as the texture.

i have the file opened viewing the original texture, i just dont know what text id want to highlight before hitting the write file button.

also, incase it makes a difference im using Svosh's robe fix, and the padawan robe templates.
