Keyan Farlander Posted September 19, 2001 Posted September 19, 2001 That's one of the weirdest of them all. I mean, there's no "f" or "ph" in the word at all. Why is there a "fffff" sound? It makes NO sense. It always ticked me off whenever I was watching an episode of Columbo and the villan was English [This message has been edited by Keyan Farlander (edited September 19, 2001).]
Cmdr. Cracken Posted September 19, 2001 Posted September 19, 2001 17, In high school, going for a Math/Science Major diploma. Thinking of systems admin, software enginner, or genetics.
Nute Gunray Posted September 20, 2001 Posted September 20, 2001 To complicate things, I'm fairly certain that lieutenant was originally a FRENCH word. I've seen British made documentaries on the History Channel in which they've SPELT IT Leftenant when referencing a British serviceman and Lieutenant when referencing an American.
