toms
Most of these old games ae just too difficult to play now. I tried a few "classic" text based adventures a while back and i just couldn't beat the interface. I guess i'm spoiled with new games. Neuromancer is supposed to be an excellent Text based game. The last oldschool games that really hooled me were Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid on a SNES emulator. Oh, and populous, if you can work out how to play it under windows. Lords of Midnight (and it's sequel) are excellent, almost text based games... and they are freeware i think... with a newer windoes client that improves the interface and graphics a little. There is an awesome site who's name contains the words "Underdogs" and "Home of the" which will lead you to all manner of past treasures. I'm not sure it's technically legal - but i feel it provides a valuable library of old games that would otherwise be lost. And where a game is still for sale it links you to a shop to buy it.. so its not just abandonware. Go there and look in the text adventures category.
