No! No! No! Jacen is the sum of his experiences. His ordeal at the hands of the Vong and conversations with Vergere made him open his mind up to the Force, in a way which he was very hesitant to do before that. Not entirely content with Vergere's "there is no light or dark" take, as you know Jacen went on a search for self and answers post NJO pre Dark Nest.
Sure, but my point was that the argument that there is no light or dark side has more or less been disproven as of Betrayal, and Vergere's associations and intentions revealed. Sure, the events and consequences as a result of that discussion you mentioned are not, but the original argument is.

But really, it was just a joke. :p

(I hope this may get covered in more detail one day)
Agreed.

He tracked down the different Force practitioners(Nightsisters, Fallanassi etc) and added their experiences to his...
Well, he twisted them to fit into his own view. IIRC the beginning of Dark Nest he is talking to the Fallanassi (??), and they are arguing that some of his views are wrong/not entirely correct. My impression is that he views everything through filtered eyes. He tends to pick and choose parts that fit into what he wants to believe.

which is what makes him so different to most others of the New Order.
Yes, he is different. There is no arguing that. :)

But is he better? We will have to wait and see, but so far it looks like he falling into the same sort of traps that many others have in the past. Many of the arguments he uses to justify his actions to himself have been used before.

Crutch bulging in SW is wrong :( It's mainly in these recent comics where alot of this has been happening.
I'm not sure why you say "alot". Apart from Kade Skywalker who only appears in one issue of Legacy, who else is crotch-bulging?

Krayt's sith are 'more complex than the Vong' ... seriously you jest.
Well, really too early to say, at least in terms of the lower ranking Sith. So you are right. I really should have said that Krayt himself is more interesting. I would say his motivations are much more believable in terms of being able to understand his reasoning. He has a real purpose and what he views is best for the galaxy, but still being evil. There is also the sickness thing, making him vulnerable, which is uncommon with most SW villians. There is a great opportunity for expanding that character/plotline. Really, his views are quite similar to Jacen's currently, although I do not believe that Jacen = Kryat.

The Vong to me seem to be the religious fanatic types, which I don't see as particularly interesting or deep.

Also, as opponents for the jedi, they werent as utterly useless as stormies !!
Unfortunately, it was the EU that made the Jedi out to be gods who could do anything, and in the process made stormies and just about everybody else besides force-users a non-threat. So supervillians had to be created to counteract that power.

In the films, a squad of clone troopers (even a lone skilled gunslinger) are clearly a threat to even council level Jedi. If that model has persisted more in the EU, supervillians would not have been as necessarly to provide a reasonable protagonist.

This is a pet peeve of mine. :)

Now that everyone is getting used to the idea of the characters in the Legacy series, the writers will need to show what theyre made out of to make that series viable, hopefully not destroying that future timeframe of EU.
Indeed. Even now, the whole conflict in LOTF between the GA and Corellia is mute on some level, as the GA will not exist and Corellia will be controlled by the Sith in the next few decades anyway.

But I'm not sure what you mean by "destroying..."

So why isn't your status Super Punkerator?
That would be Super Duper! :)
