Teachers with guns - bad idea?

We were talking about that in health the other day, and it angers me when the teacher is basically standing up there and saying that there is absolutley nothing wrong with teen sex as long as it's a responsible couple, protection is used, and the girl is on birth control. It fricken pisses me off, because they're teaching kids to just go have sex and potentially ruin their lives.
Teen sex will happen. It always has happened. Even in societies that were so socially conservative that showing your ankles was a floggable offence, teens have still gotten together and done the horizontal mamba. Therefore the rationale behind the kind of sex education you're describing is that if it will happen whatever we do, we may as well encourage the kids involved to use contraception. That's a good thing.

Because the big problem is that teens are having sex without contraception. Despite all the information available to them on this score, they're still not using condoms. They're still getting pregnant. They're still contracting relatively easy to avoid STDs.

And you want to make it harder for them to get hold of condoms? Insanity.

As for the "teens are stupid" argument, no, teens are not especially stupid. People are stupid, and in my experience people who were idiots as teens grow up into even bigger idiots when the magic age of "manhood/womanhood" is reached. In my humble opinion if you want to stop "stupid" teens from having sex, you should damn well want to stop stupid adults from having sex as well, because they shouldn't be allowed to bring any more idiots into the world.

Like it or not, sexual stimulation is a recreational activity. Like drug use, it must not be stigmatised, or it is driven underground where it becomes even more insidious. Even experienced illegal drug users have told me in all sincerity some of the most anecdotal, idiotic nonsense about their drug of choice. This is because they are not educated in the realities of drug use, because it is illegal and socially stigmatised, and people want to ignore it and sweep it under the carpet and pretend it can be in some way avoided, defeated or willed out of existence.

Exactly. Boy wants to have sex, girl doesn't want to, boy pesters her until she gives in, she feels horrible afterwards, repeat until girl's life is ruined.
Ha! Old fashioned. When a man and a woman have consentual sex, they both have equal responsibility in the matter. End of story. Spare me the "poor put upon girls" guff, if a girl is "pestered" into having sex when she doesn't want to, it's her fault. Can you be "pestered" into jumping off a cliff? Clearly not.

What would be nice is no more social stigma for women who enjoy sex. Men who enjoy sex are just men and there's nothing wrong with that. But old fashioned fools of BOTH genders still think of a woman who enjoys sex as "a slut". Once again, social stigma only contributes to this problem.
