Negative Sun
Which one do you think was the best? I haven't played the premium modules yet, but so far I'd have to go with HotU, great storyline, Epic levels, Deekin rocks lol, Enserric rocks as well, etc... I like the original campaign as well, besides from the fact that it's sooooooooooo long! And the final battle is a bit of a disappointment... Edit: Could a mod please add a poll to this somehow? Cause I'm sure I told it to add one but it didn't, and I can't seem to add one to it now... Edit 2: Thanks stoffe
stoffe
Which one do you think was the best? Out of the official NWN campaigns I liked Hordes of the Underdark best. It had interesting henchmen who felt more like real party members you could interact with and that had a part of the story than the tag-along mercs in the main campaign. The story was fairly nice as well (at least compared to the other two) with its twists and turns, though it was a bit confusing at times. I've played a lot of third party mods for NWN a few years ago. The ones I still remember to be my favourites back then were: the A Call for Heroes series the A Hunt through the Dark series the Shadowlords+Dreamcatcher series the Penultima ReRolled series the Claw Chronicles series Trial of Spirit and Elegia Eternum. Overall I liked some of the player mods better than the original campaigns (so I guess I placed my vote on the wrong choice above. Wonder if it can be changed...) Never bought any of the premium mods since I strongly dislike the type of copy protection scheme Bioware uses for those (too disruptive). Edit: Could a mod please add a poll to this somehow? Cause I'm sure I told it to add one but it didn't, and I can't seem to add one to it now... Done.

ChAiNz.2da
My "official" vote went to HotU, much for the same reasons stoffe mentioned.. that, and I'm a drow fanboi However, again like stoffe, player made mods made up most of the years I played the series of games.. Rather than send you on a scavenger hunt of my links within these forums, I just quoted an old post of mine that lists the series of player mods that consumed much of my playing sessions Alot of stoffe's series can be found in the Hall of Fame link.. excellent mods too.. Weeeee... gadz I love this game(s).. I've played the entire series for well over 3 years straight, and it's still loaded on my system There's so many great mods for this game (other than the Official Expansion Sets).. but I'd highly suggest them as well... Right off the bat though, I'd suggest getting the CEP (Community Expansion Pack). It's not a Mod by itself, but many of the newer (better) mods incorporate it into their hakpaks... The Hall of Fame list includes some of the best modules you'll find, but sometimes it helps to explore around. Some of my personal Favorites are: - The Rogues of Quinn, Series All 3 of them (for Rogue based PC's) - Sands of Fate 1 - Shadows over Heliopolis, (post HotU modules, high lvl PC's) - Sands of Fate 2 - Gem Tower, (post HotU modules, high lvl PC's) - The Lord of Terror - The Diablo Campaign, Diablo Campaign NWN style It's better than the original Blizzard game..hehehe - Tortured Hearts I, Massive Mod, and very hard but worth it. Don't try this one till you're comfortable with the gameplay - Tales of Arterra "Series", You should play "The Lost" mod before "The Awakening"
Negative Sun
Thanks Chainz. Is the CEP really worth it? And how did you play it? Online or in the Official Campaigns? Or are there specific mods for it? Btw, roughly how often have you guys finished each campaign? I've done NWN only once (I loved it, but I just can't gather the will to go through it all again, it's just too long IMO), SoU twice (It's allright, liked the Arcane Archer Prestige Class) and I'm in my second run through HotU (Epic Monk! Loving it!)
ChAiNz.2da
Thanks Chainz. Is the CEP really worth it? And how did you play it? Online or in the Official Campaigns? Or are there specific mods for it? CEP, imo, is definitely worth it. but only if you play a mod that requires it (or making one yourself).. it's more of a supplement than anything else.. but allows much more freedom in what is created... I've played OC, online and modded (and self-created mods).. but I can say still to this day that I do NOT like NWN's online gameplay. Probably the only thing I don't like.. but because it's been around so long, it's mostly flamewars or "nuking newbs with hellballs" as soon as someone logs on.. it's not a very generous or supportive community like it was when it was initially started. Could just be my experience though. Official campaign and player mods were the majority of my sessions, mainly modded after I discovered the joys of them and what whetted my whistle to find at this (SWK) community Links in my above post are my favorite mods to this day.. stoffe
Thanks for mentioning those btw, I shall check them out...Did you put them in order of awesomeness, or just random? No, they were just mentioned in the order they came to mind. They are quite hard to rank since they are very varied in content. Some (like Elegia Eternum) are quite serious story-wise, while others (like Penultima ReRolled) have a lot of jokes and satire baked into them. They also vary in length, extra content used etc. Since I can't rank them I'll write a little of what I remember of them instead. Elegia Eternum is a fairly short and serious story that's presented in a moving manner. It's hard to explain the story without spoilers, but it's fairly psychological in nature. It comes with its own music soundtrack and includes some other custom content as well to present the story. Very emotional to play through, at least it was for me. Trial of Spirit is a rather hippie-ish story which is a departure from the usual D&D fantasy adventures. Still, it has a fairly interesting and different story, and it's a fairly long adventure. The Claw Cronicles on the other hand is more classic 3 part D&D adventure, where you work with a band of "retired" high level adventurers to clear the ruins of Myth Drannor of a devil invasion and put a stop to their plans before the infernal hosts pour out into the surrounding lands. Also fairly long, and the story is more interesting than it sounds. Uses a bunch of custom content to make it more varied than the standard game. Penultima ReRolled is a 5 part story full of jokes and satire, but still manages to stay coherent enough to be interesting, and the ending finally brings some sense into it as all the ends are tied up and you figure out what's really going on. Uses some custom content to make the story more immersive (new unique portraits for the main characters for example). It's an independent continuation of the older Penultima series, but I like ReRolled much better than the first series. Shadowlords+Dreamcatcher is a fairly long dual-series story arc with 5 parts each. While it starts out fairly average it gets better with each part, and the Dreamcatcher parts contain lots of innovation and custom content in how the world is presented to make it feel unique. Fairly classic D&D adventure where you try to stop an evil Necromancer from achieving godhood in the Shadowlords part, and try to stop a powerful ancient being from awakening in Dreamcatcher. More interesting story than it sounds. A very good series over all, and one with a quite happy ending if you play your cards right. (One of the few game endings that haven't left me with a sense of anticlimax, in fact ) A Hunt through the Dark is a series where you play as a Drow/Dark Elf who's part on an expedition through the Underdark to reach the surface world for some reason the priestess of Lolth who's leading the expedition won't initially reveal (but you'll figure out eventually). Has some plot twists, and you'll eventually even have a chance to wiggle free of Lolth's grasp if you prefer playing as a good-aligned character and manage to keep your head on your shoulders that long. A Call for Heroes is another very long series that has a slightly more mature and quirky feel to it. You're the chosen champion of the queen of one kingdom and have to help her deal with her rivals in a series of fairly varied adventures, using plots ranging from arranged marriages to regicide. Lots of political intrigue and backstabbing. It doesn't have a standard fantasy feel to it in a way that might turn purists away, but it is still fun to play IMO. Cool! I'm not too keen on the online gameplay either, though I have had a few nice games with nice people who shared loot with me (t3h n00b) and stuff like that... After this HotU run I'm definitely gonna check out some of those mods, though I'm doing a KotOR run as well, plus a Devil May Cry run on PS2 and I'm starting a new job next week lol, busy! Ghost Down
Frankly, I got no idea. Never started the game. I bought the Diamond edition for 20 bucks and installed it. Started it up once, and closed it as soon as possible. I was shocked about the horrible graphics! The environments looked okay, but the character models looked horrible .. - Ghost Down

I would say that HoU is just as good as any RPG out there. SoU and the OC are slightly below HoU.

Edit, btw, is there such a thing as a NWN Savegame Editor? Cause after playing KotOR with my trusty KSE at my side I feel kinda naked without one, plus I made the stupid mistake of not investing in Lore, and now it sucks cause I want to know what my magical items do lol, I also want more search skill to find those blasted secret doors easier... I've been looking for it in the NWNvault and other sites, but no luck so far
