No more 32-bit Windows OSes

Recommended Posts

What im not sure about is if these OS will have 'backwards compatibility'...

If they dont, the impact is easy to be predicted:

everyone who wants to use that new OS will need to buy appropriate hardware.

last I checked, not too many 32bit CPUs were being made anymore ;)

It was inevitable though.... that 3GB RAM max restriction was a brick wall for developers and power users - Its no longer on the horizon as far as high end apps and gaming for the future are concerned...

Wait- whats the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit?

It's related to CPU and Memory relations.

64 bit is technically be able to "run twice as fast" with appropriate memory and processor.

I think it's a good idea. We dropped 16 bit processors long ago, it's time to move on to completely 64 bit machines.
