Sarthos
Okay, so basically, I'm trying to make a simple mod, but I'm really confused. I would like to be able to make custom armor using models already in the game, although instead of armor, more like disguises. For example, you could have everyone could appear as rodians or Twi'leks or something. Also, if possible, I would like to make some mask objects, which could be used to disguise the heads of the characters, to make the disguise full. So if somebody could please show me the basics for how to do this, or do this for me, I would be really grateful. I tried reading a tutorial, but it only told me how to use armors already in the game, so it didn't help me too much
LordRevan999
To disguise someone there is a way and that is to change the appearance of that character to someone you want like change twilek into rodians etc. This can be done and is easy if you know how to change appearance of characters. Also mask objects I don't know about them but I know an objects uti can be changed or a uti can be made then all you have to do it is to open it with kotor tool and then go into properties tab then add a property and select disguise in the property name and then in subtype use the appearance you want to use and I would suggest change the value of %change appearance to 100 now your done just use the item in the game and you got the disguise. But only one item is use like I would use some robe to get a full disguise or a helmet only full disguises are obtained I don't know that any way to make half half disguises to complete one disguise and also these can be used by your party members and you who ever is equipping that item or object. So If you want to change appearance of other characters or even if you want to change party members appearance or even the players you can do it.If you need any help about how to do it ask me or if you want me to make it tell me the characters whose appearance you want to be changed and into which appearance. Sarthos
well, I'd sorta prefer to make it be something anyone can use, or not use. Otherwise, could you just give me a run-though on how to make Carth have like a rodian costume? Just for the body, not the head? Otherwise, another thing I'd like to know if I can do, give people like...two sets of clothing, like 1 set that looks normal, and 1 set that is hippy colors or something. So if there is a way to make armor that uses either the clothing or the underwear models, could someone try to run me through on how to do that, just adding a different texture to it? RyuuKage
T7nowhere's custom armor tutorial That tut will show you how to make new armor/clothes with different textures than the originals. As for getting things like Rodian clothes without the head, I'm still trying to find a way to do that...or better yet, find someone who already knows. Sarthos
okay, but I still don't know what exactly to set for the "body variation" I think I could do the color, but if I wanted to do custom clothes for somebody, how could I do that? Or is there perhaps somebody who just knows how to make such things universal?
Qui-Gon Glenn
I do not mean to discourage you, but something like this has already been done I think, and I think fairly well. It is part of ChAiNz.2da's Hak Pad or the HP Booster Pack, either containing (I think the latter) Andargor's Disguise Pack. I don't have a linky... search T.U.C.E. for Hak Pad or ChAiNz' mods. Not to say you can't make it unique....
RyuuKage
i think Holowan Cloakworks just gives standard disguises that use default models, so if you put on a rodian one you'd be a rodian. the OP wants to be able to use just the rodian's outfit (as an example at least). Dunno about the Hak Pad. I'm trying to get similar results with Sith Uniforms, but it's really tricky. Anything that isn't a reskin of an already useable player model is very difficult to make useable without replacing some of the default equippable clothes/armor. Sarthos
well, could someone at least run me through how to change the appearance then?
Kha
While working on Carth's Clothes mod , Cjt0202 helped me to put the new models using the know-how from ChAiNz.2da and Svösh on disguises, let´s see if I can explain here how we did it. I got Carth's underwear model, remodeled it in Gmax, and gave it the name P_CarthCA.mdl, P_CarthCA.mdx and the texture P_CarthCA90.tga. Actualy we had 10 models named from P_CarthCA to P_CarthCJ. Because the body variation number in the uti file doesn't work, we had to add in the baseitems.2da file one row for each body variation we would like to use (modela to modelj in appearance.2da file), so we copied the Basic_Clothing row and changed the name to body_var_a, changed the itemclass name to use the proper icon (a_BVA). Since we would like to use from modela to modelj in the appearance.2da file, we created 10 new rows in the baseitems.2da file. The row label of this new base item will be used in the Baseitem part of the uti file, but as you can not add it directly using Kotor Tool you need to change it during intstallation time using TSL patcher. As the name of my texture is P_CarthCA90, we changed the texture variation to 90, this one does work! So if we wanted use the same model and change the texture color we would make a new texture called P_CarthCA91.tga and change the texture variation to 91. Now we need to tell which model to use, so in the appearance.2da file we added a new row, coping from Party_NPC_Carth, and changed its label to carth_clothes, in the modela colunm we added the name of my model P_CarthCA, and texa P_CarthCA. Since we had 10 models and mapped the 10 new body variation, we added the model names in the colunms modela to modelj, and the texture names in the columns texa to texj. The row label will be used the in the disguise property of the uti file, but again you can not assign it using Kotor tool, again need to be changed by TSL Patcher, or using KGFF editor. In the Carth's Clothes mod, we added a new feat that only Carth can get, to avoid anyone else using the disguise, otherwise we would have everyone looking like Carth... Hope it helps.
