Very much confused about the following: - psyk0sith has told me what tags are in another thread, but how do I create new tags (by new tags, I mean tags that don't exist in any of the weapons' MD3s, like tag_flash)? - How do I link up tags to another model/mesh, since my gun is split into 3 different meshes? - I'm using Lightwave, and I doubt anyone else here uses it, but can someone give me an idea of how to attach a tag to a mesh? Psyk0Sith Posted February 29, 2008 Share Posted February 29, 2008 -To create a tag, at least the way i do it, is to create a single polygon and delete half (because we all know quads are 2 tris connected together) at least in 3d max. Lightwave can open .obj files, there's tags included with kyle's saber, feel free to use them, you might need to fix pivot orientation: http://www3.sympatico.ca/psykopat/tools/kylesaber.zip Tags are kind of bitchy depending on the application you are using, for example the coordinate system is not the same in max as in modview/JA, sometimes you have to rotate the pivot point to match the game engine's XYZ system. -In max we use the link tool...it's that simple. -Weapons do not have bones, even complex ones are probably animated within the .md3.
