Jedi Master Aagin
team hutt team wraid team jawa... the list goes on. i look through every team informations and noticed one thing. they are all inspired by team gizka. i dont know why but im tempted to start a team to make a total conversion of one of the games. of course i have no modding training even though i have the tools, i follow the tutorials and there is always something i suck at, so i would have to be the 'story writer' but seriously, whats with the teams??? DarthRevan243
Because some people don't have enough skill to manage a mod on their own. It really has helped me make my mod and a...freindship...begins when people start a team.
glovemaster
Well, to answer your question.. Team Gizka and Team Jawa, now replaced by Team Hutt it seems, are restoration modifications, or teams to restore content that Bioware or Obsidian dismissed or lacked the time to add in themselves. The reason that there are multiple people working on these mods is because there is a very large amount of content to be restored on both games, Team Gizka has been working for, years? Is it? And even in a team they haven't quite finished yet, though I wish them good luck. I suppose in an equal sence total conversion mods require alot of work and teams are generally made to speed production. Though, like all mods, you could write a conversion mod yourself if you have the patience.
Darth InSidious
@Kouen: Not only an inaccurate definition, a misspelled one, too. OK. Long, long ago, the TSL Restoration Project lacked a name, and - for a joke - called themselves Team Gizka. The original M4-78 Restoration Project joined in the fun, naming themselves Team Bantha. These were the original two. The K1RP, hoping to ape the success fo the TSLRP then named themselves Team Jawa. Then, Darth Balor, that found of originality named 'his' content restoration mod team Team Exile...and now every three people with no experience and big ideas are calling themselves "Team Ronto", or "Team Kinrath", or what-have-you. That explain it?
stoffe
They say imitation is a form of flattery; I'll leave it unsaid if that's true or not. Regardless Team Gizka seems to have made a big impact on the modding community as inspiration. Still, it is very easy to bite off more than you can chew when you are new to modding a game, and it's usually better to start with something a bit less ambitious to get your feet wet. Sure, you can learn together as a team, but that's what the mod community here as a whole is for. Personally I'm not all that fond of modding teams since they tend to create a feeling of competition rather than cooperation and make some people not share their knowledge and discoveries with others, hoping to make some "big revelation" when their mod finally does get released. But I guess on the upside it can keep some people's attention focused better. Either way, over the years I've noticed that most of the modding teams that have formed never have gotten far enough to release anything of substance. That's the danger of big projects that take long to finish I suppose; if something happens along the way all that effort goes to waste. Oh, and: Mod note: Most of the posts in this thread had precious little to do with discussion about modding the KotOR games. Please take the argument about who has been doing what to whom and why to Private Messages if you intend to continue it. This thread has been cleansed.
