freddan
Hello everyone! Im having alot of trouble playing both Kotor and Kotor2 on my pc. They both crash after 5-10 minutes of playing. Sometimes the game freezes and sometimes it kicks me out to the desktop. Ive tried many things including installing older drivers for my graphic card but nothing seems to work. Anyone encountered this before? Any help would be very appreciated! My pc is P4 1,7Ghz. 256 RAM and a Geforce 3 Ti500. I know its old but I should be able to run the game on medium settings, right? Jae Onasi
Please see the 'Read this first before posting' sticky. It has instructions on how to get some more in depth specs.. This is not the same as the hardware specs you provided above. After you post those we hopefully can give you a better idea of why you're having problems. Consider turning the graphics options down to the lowest settings to see if that helps also.

Jae Onasi
Try turning off grass, shadows, and anisotropy. I had a laptop with a 32MB video card (and yours is only 64) and I had to turn everything either low or off completely. I also found changing my desktop resolution to 800x600 while playing the game seemed to help as well. That could be a quirk of my computer. Turn off all your background processes that you don't absolutely need while running the game. If you turn off your antivirus and firewall, though, remember to turn them back on when you're done gaming. Others more versed in computers than I am may make other suggestions, but the other thought I had was that there might be a heat problem, so make sure the vents aren't blocked and the fans are working. I'm sure I posted a responce in this thread but would seem not (I can't see why the post I thought I had posted would have been deleted). I checked--no posts have been deleted in this thread. We've had several similar threads recently--it might have been in one of the other ones. --Jae Jae is correct about having games run at the native resolution; computers are always happier when you do that, I think it might be because the computer goes into a running two moniters mode (but thats only a hypothesis). All Jae's tips are very good, if they don't work, exactly how is your computer stopping? Is the whole computer crashing and going off or just the game? You mention it going back to the desktop, does it do that every time? Any error messages displayed? I was thinking perhaps your PC might have been over heating? Have you checked all the fans etc, to make sure all are working? Whats curious is its running then stopping, what anti virus protection do you have? I'd reupdate your graphics drivers as well; generally best to have the latest versions; I've got the latest NVidia in my laptop and it runs all my old games (KotOR, TSL, Jedi Academy, TPM etc) fine on the latest drivers...
