GWL SWBF2 Tournaments for PC

We've started registration for 2 tournaments over at GWL for SWBF2 for PC.

 

The first is a "2v2 Hero v Villain Partner Mixed Force Tournament". Players team up in a 2v2 format and compete against each other in weekly rounds of single elimination to determine the winner for the tournament. Details and more information can be found on the tournament information page. Registration for this tournament closes June 22nd, 2008.

Registration has also started for our 1v1 Infantry PRIZE tournament. We're giving away an MP3 player w/voice recorder! Players who register for the tournament will compete against each other in single elimination until there is a winner. Details and more information on this tournament can be found on this tournament's information page. Registration for the 1v1 Infantry PRIZE tournament ends June 29th, 2008.

Both Tournaments, players will vote on maps to be included in the random map generator for the rounds. The 1v1 Infantry also has a Poll going as to whether to include unlockable units in the tournament. After registration head to the polls to cast your vote.

*Because there is a prize for the 1v1 Infantry tournament, the legal stuff has to be added. If you are under the age of 18, you must have legal guardian or parental consent before participating in this GlobalWarfighter event (1v1 Infantry prize tournament). By registering, you hereby affirm that you are 18 or older, OR that you have received legal guardian or parental consent to participate in this event. In order to receive any prize package, event winners must disclose personal address information to GlobalWarfighter staff when requested. This information will only be used for prize shipments. Good tourney, maybe ill last a few rounds, make sure you get a few skill points through matches if your new to GWL and don't wait to the last minute.

The skill point requirement for the 1v1 infantry tournament has been dropped to allow more players to join.

 

Rogue's right though. You shouldn't wait til the last minute to register.. it's good to see who'll be competing before the last day of registration.

do you ever plan on using the battle arena map in tournaments?

Is there really enough interest to hold a tournament like this? I don't think there is here, at least.

As a matter of fact, I was looking at that map just recently and thought the same thing about adding it to competition... it is a nice map. I think Repsharpshooter did an excellent job.

 

And yes.. I try and go to everywhere an SWBF2 player might hang out to try and get players to compete in the game... whether it be tournaments or just getting on the ladders. There's many that play the game.. but fewer who like the game so much they want to compete in it. But they are out there. There are players who want to see there ranking in "real time" or see there competing stats ranked up against others who have competed rather than on some obscure leaderboard that keeps track of every player that ever played the game setting up their own servers on easy with tons of bots to pad their stats up. So Jawa is right.. this isn't an LF exclusive tourny.. I try and reach out to the entire SWBF2 community.
