Rachel_Ewok
I read over Darkkender's tutorial on creating new appearances using .2da editing.... However, I'm a little unsure as to what everything means, mostly because I'm not very experienced yet, so I don't know exactly what all the files say (it's a different language ^^). If I'm not mistaken Darkkender's tutorial here features a twi'lek male head for KOTOR II. I figured out the head extractions and everything else extractions, but I'm having trouble as to what these files would be for a KOTOR I female PC head. All I'm doing is reskinning an already available head, but I'm not sure what these two files are... What they do, why I need them, and where I should look for them: twilek_m.mdl twilek_m.mdx They must be important, but I need to know what they are, so that I can find the one that corresponds with my particular body and head. Any help or a point to another thread would be much appreciated! ^^
Inyri
Those are the two mesh files.
settoken
Those are the two mesh files. you could speak chinese as well, that guy have probably no idea of what is a mesh. Rachel_Ewok, you don't need any of those mdl and mdx files if you're just planning to reskin. They are the 3d model of the character. The only case it could be usefull to you, is if you want to redo the UVWmap in order to make your skin asymetrical.
Inyri
Because if the user doesn't know what a mesh is they'll know what a model is. Really... I have enough faith in humanity to assume people can use a dictionary.

I can just use the head textures, reskin those and then plug 'em into the appearace.2da files? Great! Thanks alot! ^^

It wasn't actually clear. _EW_
Rachel_Ewok
A new choice... So does that mean I need to do something different?

Quanon
yup some 2da editing Ahum, Set, you're giving wrong info. If you want a new head to choose, with it a new texture, unique to that head alone => You need to edit the Head.mdl and Head.mdx, plus 2DA editing. Its a simple hex-edit on the .mdl file. What you need to do is change the name of the orginale skin of the head to your edit of that skin. There's a bit of a trap, if the orginale skin was named DOP006.tga ( 6 letters/ numbers), your head skin name needs the same amount of Letters/numbers. I.E: DAP006.tga. Thats what you need to do in the .mdl file of the head, you can use a general Hex-editor or the name replacing function of MDLops. If you don't follow these steps and just edit the skin and not alter its name, every Twilek/ npc with the same head will change aswell.
