Eternal Halls

Recommended Posts

This is kind of more a story written in poem format than a normal run-of-the-mill poem. You'll see what I mean whilst you read it. Hope you enjoy.

ETERNAL HALLS

Cry not my Sweet Lady;

such damning thoughts corrode within.

It is not I, that ride to Hades,

I fly elsewhere by the wind.

My mind utters the seconds I have hidden,

For ages of Millennia unknown.

With sacred dreams of a win.

Through blacker days,

sing sweet succulent serenades

we wave to the sky as last light fades.

A blood-red rose falls into blackness,

my heart yearns for Thee to decay.

Odin guides my way hither.

His chariot glides away over the passing sun.

To stars -

- to moons - to the void,

where the blackness grows ever duller,

my breath and cries drive me closer.

I live in death, in the halls of Val Halla.

Through fire,

in water.

Precious.

Do not pity me,

do not cry.

You know not of where I am to be,

Not until you, yourself, choose to fly.

Strive through a bitter winter,

as the moon prowls the sky.

The wind grows ever the most chilled,

Save Her, before they die.

The torch follows me,

- in front and behind -

wherever I turn I can see,

the walls are carved fine.

Of battles long lost, and songs left unsung,

the walls tell me of Her woes.

Back to light of fire where it belongs,

a breath is made to die as She goes.

I live in death, in the halls of Val Halla.

Forgive me, Thor - for this flower.

My wife laid it down beside me.

Prayers to you fly forever,

You heard stories of our deed?

Your helm, your glory, is all but fine.

I drink from this cup you give me, a most bitter wine.

My life adds up to all but one crime?

Seek my seat, wife Enya, and feast with us in kind.

Glory in sun,

with a setting sea.

Gods have created nothing but paradise.

It seems to me,

whatever it may be,

it can talk for itself,

with a single mind.

It is then I learnt,

of a dangerous trickery;

My heart bled with guilt.

Is it the end, Ragnarok? May it be ...

Stood upon the bridge,

I saw with mine two eyes,

let loose with the horn,

and on came the horde -

It started.

The slow beginning of a quick end.

Never were, never will be ... never will be

- Anymore -

The sky went black,

and Hel herself seemed to shout from below.

Clouds of red came about,

no faces ever looked back.

Mine warriors, hath were Thee noble.

And as they flew,

Our swords were drew,

But against Witches Spells, our swords could never have sown.

Val Halla fell.

Her halls were no more.

I cried, and cried, and cried.

Darkness takes me now,

into the deep fires of ash.

Forever shall I live in death...

Forever shall I live in death, in the halls of Val Halla.

You can post poetry, here? I never knew that.

Anyway, this is an amazing piece :eyepop I really liked it. Especially the stanza:

'The torch follows me,

- in front and behind -

wherever I turn I can see,

the walls are carved fine.

Of battles long lost, and songs left unsung,

the walls tell me of Her woes.

Back to light of fire where it belongs,

a breath is made to die as She goes.'

Great work. ;)

Yeah, I wrote some pieces, back when my name was the highly original Darth_Kotor :xp:

Anywho, this is one of the best poems I've read, and also its nice to see some new poetry on this forum, doesn't come around too often. Good work, really loved.

(Geez, you really like writing, everytime I log in there's a new fic/poem by you :))

Indeed! the curse of too many ideas! But I agree, nonetheless, what I have read of yours is great. :)

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it!

@Bini:  yeah, I like to write. It seems that when I go through a period of not being able to write anything - whether it be from time (or loss of it, more like it), or just no ideas popping into my head - I come out swinging :D

@Burnseyy: How come you won't post anything??? :(

Thanks again.

Because it's Poetry? Or 'cause of the quality of the poetry?

... Come on ... :) I want to read some! Your story's are an awesome read so I can't see how your poems would be any different! :D

It's because of what the poetry is about :^:
