It's likely one or the other of those causing your problem.

Why can't you set affinity or find the .ini file?

Well, I looked at some of the other posts and I can't seem to find it where they said it would be. Where should it be? I could look again.

Hi,when i play kotor 1 my laptop turning off every 10 munites. After that when i push turn on button, its says windows is resuming and its resuming the game where i left from.

its not a temperature problem because there is noting wrong with other games, only when i play kotor 1.

I did everything what this topic said, game is not crashing but windows does.

Also i turned off all sleep mode options at power settings.

By the way,in taris it happened 1-2 times but i didnt care, but when i go to tatooine its starting to shuting down in every 10 munites.

Hello there! I am unable to find the .ini file for Kotor 1 or change the core affinity for it on my Windows 7 machine despite the screenshot at the very beginning of this thread. Can anyone provide me with either the location of the ini file or assistance in finding where to change the afinity? I keep experiencing game-ending freezes that I cannot avoid.

I need more info. Try using the game's configuration utility to post your system specs:

Post your system specs

Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below:

  • If you're using Vista or Windows 7, go into your game folder, find "launcher.exe" and right-click on it. Select "properties", then "compatibility" and check the box beside "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Then check the box next to "Run this program administrator" and hit "OK". (EDIT by Q)
  • Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2 (by running "launcher.exe").
  • Click on "Configure".
  • Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window.
  • Click "Yes" to continue.
  • Click "Details" to view your system specs.
  • Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop.
  • Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.

You can leave out the keymapping and everything after that.

Okay I patched it, but it's still crashing right after I use the comp to override and kill the sith troopers on the Endar Spire.

It happens right after the comp gives the message "LOGGING OUT", then it shows some weird view of a Sith trooper on the floor, then the normal cursor pops up and I have to CTRL + ALT + DEL out.

Yep, not sure why this is happening.

No, you didn't.

You didn't patch the game until I told you to, nor did you apply the Dantooine lag fix, even after I told you to. Instead, you decided to second-guess me:

I'll patch the game, but I haven't gotten to Dantooine yet so... :D

:argh:

That fix applies to the entire game. Now either learn to follow instructions or go away. :dozey:

Hey guys. I'm trying to get KOTOR2 to work. I'm running Windows 7. I followed the posted instructions to the letter and it did not work. I uninstalled and tried again; it still did not work. I create a character and get through the scrolling yellow text and the small cinematic of the Ebon Hawk drifting when the game proceeds to crash.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,

So new to the forums, but not to the game. Always played on console though for both. Never had a good PC before now. (Asus G53SX laptop;NVidia GTX560M 2GB Card; 2630QM 2nd-gen i7, 8GB RAM, Blu-Ray Super Multi drive, Full 1920x1080 resolution screen)

Anyways, I just want to clarify some things.

Say I buy KOTOR and TSL for PC.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition. Has all current updates

I will still need to run the patches, correct?

As in it won't be something where I can just pop in the game and go at it.

Other concern was if my 1920x1080 native resolution was going to cause a problem with gameplay. I was worried that if I tried to "blow-it-up" to fit my resolution, the game would look horrible. Didnt know if there was a high resolution mod fix for this. Did my best to read through everything, but didnt see it.

Second (unrelated) part to the this question is if anyone knew where to find Team Gizka's work? I used to follow it back in the day when I dreamed of having a good PC/Laptop. But now that they seem to have disbanded, I can't seem to find any download links for their mods that work (specifically the HK planet quest). Hopefully someone could point me in the right direction? I was planning on stockpiling those mods into a folder so that by the time the games got here (ordered online) I would be ready to add in stuff before my first play through.

thanks in advance. Can't wait to relive some of my childhood memories of playing these games! Really glad that there are still those who are still playing and enjoying older games like this as much as I do. Still love playing me some X-Wing Alliance!!!
