Taak Farst
I am writing this to help todays teenagers decide whether to get the 1990 classic: Secret of Monkey Island. Please don't hound me, as I read a review which lead me to the game, so I am just adding the help. First Impressions: For me, not knowing much off it, the name in itself put me off. Monkey Island? It sounds babyish. Then Tales of Monkey Island was announced and Darth Moeller made a few comments on how great he thought the originals were. Now, with Jeff being a mature adult and liking the game, I slided more towards getting it. I even didn't think of getting it, because of today's technology and graphics, the graphics of monkey island originals would bore me. But, I took a gamble, as it doesn't cost much, and bought the first game. --- As I played through it, I enjoyed it more and more as I went further on. It was a humurous game and I particularly enjoyed getting the sword fight insults for that humour. It is a typical take note of your surrounding games. Loads of puzzles and small details you have to do in order to take big steps. It's enjoyable and gives you a few hours of occupying gameplay, from buying your first ship all over to LeChuck throwing you so hard you hit a Grog Machine. --- Final Impressions: Well, I was wrong about my first worries. The "poor" 1990's graphics suited it, it was quite funny and it was a good occupying game. The Secret of Monkey Island and the other games are a lot more mature than you expect them to be by name. They still aren't mature though I have already set a preorder up for the Tales of Monkey Island series -- Don't hound me for making this please, this is just to give fellow teenagers of today some help on deciding whether to get the game or not. Hope this helped If you like the Monkey Island series, I suggest you poke at the Ben Jordan games on Grundislavgames.com
Jeff
Glad I influenced someone to play Monkey. If you liked that one definitely check out the sequel, it's definitely the best in the series. And I'm really looking forward to Tales too, preordered it immediately. Also, hopefully you didn't pay much since the SoMI: Special Edition is coming out in a couple weeks. I'm just about to play LeChucks revenge too. I'm gonna complete the entire series in time for tales methinks. EDIT: To choose my fave character would be a challenge, I love both LeChuck and Guybrush, but a ton of love went to LeChuck, because he punched Stan of Stan's used ships. He annoyed me so much. !
