Saunchez
HELLO! I bought "KOTOR II" about a year ago. I didnt like it so I put it away. Recently I was searching through my old games and found it. I installed it and it was working so far. Then I beat the 1st level and went to Telos. (2nd level) I beat most of the quests but then it started acting up. When I tried to access certain rooms, like the different quest rooms, it automatically went to the menu and it was flashing on "new game" and i couldn't move it. Also, it's been that every time I kill a person on it, my character just stays there waiting. I can't move it from standing there unless I select something else on the screen."like opening a door or talking to someone." I also lost all my items after loading a saved game!!! (except the ones equipped) So I got sick of all of this and I moved on the 2nd part of Telos. When I got to the cutscene part, it looked like the video was having problems playing, and then It went to the conversation with the alien guy and I stood there forever! Like the guy was standing there, but the other guy was supposed to talk to him but he didn't!! You could see the grass waving and the droid floating. I THINK MY GAME HAS SERIOUS ISSUES!! sorry for it being so long!!
vanir
Before you do anything else make sure you update with the v1.0b Patch which fixes several basic bugs in the initial release version. Download it at Kotorfiles. Otherwise, it could be a corrupted install caused by a bugged computer. This is the computer you browse the internet with or an older system and you haven't used cleaning/maintenance utilities on it in a while? Give your computer a great big whack of total maintenance, cleaning and defragging. Make sure your registry is clean. Cut down any background processes to the minimum you need (basic, essential utilities only). Check your pagefile, even your bios settings. Use something like "XP Tweaks Guide" if you have Windows XP for example, to guide you through the process if a n00b. Guides like this walk you through it and contain specific information for setting up a gaming system the best way it can be with what you've got. Then reinstall fresh, defrag again, patch and try that. If it doesn't work post full system specs and list mods.

Q
The fact that you're using XP narrows it down quite a bit. Maybe if you used the game's configuration utility to post your specs we can get to the bottom of this. Post your system specs Sometimes we're just not going to be able to help you if we don't know what kind of hardware you have on your machine. If you don't know what you have on your machine, then follow these steps below: Bring up the launcher menu for Kotor 1 or 2. Click on "Configure". Click the "Scan Hardware" button on the lower center of the window. Click "Yes" to continue. Click "Details" to view your system specs. Click "Save Report" and save the file to your desktop. Whenever you post your problem, open the file you just saved and copy and paste the contents to your post.

Q
OK, 3 things: First, you're going to want to implement the Dantooine lag fix: First, figure out where the .ini is installed. Default is "C:\Program Files\Lucasarts\swkotor(2)\swkotor(2).ini". If its not in that location, then your going to have to do some searching around on the hard drive a bit. When you find it, just double-click on the file to open it in Notepad. Scroll down the file until you find the Graphics Options Under the last line ("last line" as in the last line of the list of entries under "Graphics Options", NOT the last line of "swkotor(2).ini), add "Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1", without the quotes. Goto File, then Save. Second, while you're in the swkotor.ini file, change the "width" and "height" values under both "Display Options" and "Graphics Options" so that they are identical and at whatever resolution you plan to play. Please note that aside, from 1280x768, KotOR2 only supports 4:3 resolutions natively. Third, you'll have to set CPU affinity every time you launch the game: After starting the game, press Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up the task manager. Right-click "Knights of the Old Republic" under the applications list and select "Go to process." Right click on the highlighted process (probably something like (sw)kotor.exe) and select "Set Affinity..." In the dialog box that comes up, deselect all but one core. Then return to the game and see what happens ^/_\^ Just remember that you'll need to do this every time you start the game.

Q
Try walking back through the other sections of Iziz, maybe even all the way back to the starport, and the walk back to the cantina and try to enter it again. Sometimes all it takes is an area transition or two.
