Starwarsfan997
Dear Holowan labs community, I have had a problem with most of the mods I downloaded. For example, I downloaded the Holowan plug-in for Kotor, and installed it in my directory. However, when I went to make my character, all the new textures were either pure white, pure black, or invisible. The same thing happened with the imperial stormtrooper mods, republic clone trooper mods, some Bastilla and Carth clothing mods, Jedi Robe mods, Weapons of the Old Republic, and just about anything with new textures. I put everything into the right folder, and everything except the textures work. I have Kotor as part of the Star Wars best of PC pack, including a couple other games, if it helps. I tried to patch it, and it is at the most recent patch. Can anyone help me? (Sorry if this is in the wrong forum section, I didn't put it in the troubleshooting area because I felt that was for hardware problems.)

BOPC does not need to be updated... all games on the BOPC discs are patched to most recent revision. This sounds like installation problems, specifically with the mod installation, although game installation may be part of the problem as well. Are you using Vista/7? If so, when installing mods, make sure that you right click on the mod to install, and select Run as Admin, also select compatibility mode, and select XP SP2. You should then get your mods to install into correct folders... assuming that you did this type of process for actual game installation as well. Click Here for proper game installation instructions for Vista/7. As for correct forum for this post, the mods will settle that and move if necessary.... your demeanor takes the edge off for them, so if there is a moving, I am sure it will be gentle

I guess I wasn't completely specific. I install the mods, all the proper files are in my override folder, and KOTOR works fine for me despite Vista. However, when any mods put new or modded textures in the game, they always show up either blank or white. For example, a couple clothing mods for Bastilla which I installed perfectly simply did not work and made Bastilla a floating head. With weapon mods, I get a pure white frame of it, but all the textures are missing. I've googled, and searched, and made sure the mods aren't broken, and at this point I'm lost as to what is wrong. I'll post a picture link to show what I am referring to actually. http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll286/cah318ery7/?action=view¤t=modtrouble.jpg
jonathan7
That almost looks like an appearance.2da error; you can get that when texture names don't match up in the table with the texture in your override. Have you tried installing just one mod? So delete everything in your override, install one mod and see if the texture works.

Have you tried installing just one mod? So delete everything in your override, install one mod and see if the texture works. I did as you recommended and cleared my override folder. I downloaded a mod that changes the scout's clothes to that of a rebel soldier, and all I got was a floating head, so I assume the texture did not work. The files are clearly in my override folder, but they did not work. If it helps, any mod that uses textures already in the game seem to work fine. To test, I simply downloaded a mod that changed the characters to use republic soldier clothing. And that came out fine and dandy.
jonathan7
This is a really strange error, it's almost as if for some reason your game isn't recognizing that there are textures there; what are your OS and system specs?
MishraArtificer
I don't suppose you have a relatively new ATI video card? I installed KOTOR on a computer at work for demonstration purposes, and it had graphical issues too numerous to mention. It had an Intel Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, and a fairly new Radeon card, not sure which one specifically...

Windows Vista, also commonly known as KOTOR's arch-nemesis. As far as my video card goes, KOTOR only produces these issues with mods. I'm not sure if my graphic card is really new, but I don't think it is.

All in all, I still think this is an improper installation problem. Your game is not allowed permission to use those new textures. OS problem, which means conditions were different for installations of game vs. mod, resulting in your graphical errors despite seemingly "proper" installation. I could be wrong, but I think that you should post your specs here in this thread, and that a moderator (nudge j7 ) should move this to the Workbench where Evil Q is more likely to see it and offer his I stand by my original post... just because the game seemed to play just fine before despite what you'd heard about Vista, if you do not follow the prescribed method for installing the game, then rinse & repeat with any subsequent mods, you will have issues.
