Gorgod
Strangely enough, whenever I change the portrait in my .utc file, the portrait always goes back to po_pcarth when I open it. I always save the .utc and everything, but it always turns to Carth. Why is this? I'm assuming it's not related to the .2da, since the custom portrait always shows up in the .2da. Besides, it's with all of the portraits, not just my custom one.
JCarter426
KOTOR Tool has trouble reading new content. Your best bet is to not even bother with it until you're 100% done with anything you need to do in KOTOR Tool, or use K-GFF more. You can set KOTOR Tool to read 2DAs in the Override folder, though (Tools -> Options -> Others). This gets rid of some problems.
Marius Fett
You enabled the look in override for 2da files option in kotor tool?
JCarter426
Nah, I actually haven't bothered. I'm used to using K-GFF for most things, anyway. But... well, it's there. So it's an option.
Marius Fett
^What I meant was that if that option isn't enabled, then when KotOR Tool looks in portraits.2da for the row specified in the .utc file and it's not there, it might just default to Carth. I'm with you though, K-GFF is the go-to program for editing GFF files. Mainly for the nostalgia purposes, I guess.
JCarter426
Oh, ok, right. I'm not sure about nostalgia, but I find KOTOR Tool's drop-down menus annoying, particularly for things like appearances or spells where you can just pull the line number from the 2DA file. Easier to get the number in KOTOR Tool and then put it into K-GFF than straining your eyes searching for one thing out of 200-something choices with no sensible sorting whatsoever. Marius Fett
^That's a fair point. I agree that if there were some kind of sorting option, it'd make me a lot more likely to use KotOR Tool's GFF editing suite more often.
