CrisG
This is a historic time ...esp for a long time follower of the SW series and I decided to invest in that history, which may mean a few more ramen dinners..but it is worth it.... The Collectors Box Now i have to figure how to get it open... and then how to install to make sure i don't erase my Level 11 character that i created in the 3 Day trial last weekend. I am hopeful that they have the account proceedure set up that will prevent my losing my progress if i install the boxed version on top of the files I have already in my computer, i may consult with Customer Service...unless anyone here has gone thru this it is a very nice package...and about the size of my first Apple computer pretty exciting. Darth Avlectus
This is a historic time ...esp for a long time follower of the SW series and I decided to invest in that history, which may mean a few more ramen dinners..but it is worth it.... The Collectors Box I opted to get it by about my birthday last year, maybe a little later. I put aside the $150 until Dec 20th last year, put in the preorder and waited. It's going to be the last game I really get for the foreseeable future. I have a whole bunch of other things going on and I need a new machine to be able to play it anyways. Now i have to figure how to get it open... Just make sure you put it all back correctly or the top and bottom halves of the box will be mismatched. brevity (installation and registration issues) Wish I could help you here. I'll just say this much, I have mine but have not registered it yet because there is no real reason for me to do so. it is a very nice package...and about the size of my first Apple computer pretty exciting. I remember the apple 2 and the first macintosh. I agree about the size. Glad you're psyched.
CrisG
thanks, ya it is fun to be excited about a game,, it has been years since i really felt this way about a new game..and it looks like it will get better and better as from reading the stuff from the guys at Biloware including things that Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk are saying they are going to really support this title in a big way for years to come...the Legacy additions sound great and are very promising for the future. Lynk gave me the heads up on what to do with the box version, i guess it is an older version that what we download so i will just keep it in the case....but i may register it. My first first first comp was actually a tiny card driven thingy that was barely more than an adding machine, and then i had one of those ones that ran on Gates's first OS, dont even remember the make of that one, the Apple was the first real comp and I still have it in the closet. Lynk Former
Well yeah, the codes you get inside the box you use, but you don't need to use the disc to install the game since you already have it. You just need to update your account with the codes in the little leaflets inside the game case itself to "upgrade" your account to a full subscriber... Would it be possible for others to install without the disc? ...Others being those who have not installed it yet? For free? Just wondering... Lynk Former
Possibly, though I haven't tried... you'd need to start an account over at swtor.com and see how far you got. In theory, you could possibly skip all the steps and download the client which would then download the full game but that's as far as you'd go since you wouldn't be able to log in since you'd have no subscription to the game. However, I'm pretty sure you'd need to enter in any game codes that came with your game for you to have access to download the client... I honestly have no idea since I was part of beta and entered in my pre-order code and got into early access and all that jazz. Try it out though if you want *shrugs* let us know how far you get. It's always good to pre-load a game until the day you actually get it so that you can play right away.
