DarthDeven
Hello guys i wanted to find some audio files from KOTOR using KOTOR tool Tatooine's dune sea wind ambient sound i've tried to play the file in the modules files, but it gives me an error that says "Exception not handled by the application,Click Continue to ignore the error and try to proceed, click Exit to exit from the application immediately The output char buffer is too small to contain the decoded characters, encoding 'Unicode (UTF-8)' fallback 'System.Text.DecoderReplacementFallback'. Parameter name: chars" and if i try to import the wav using Audacity like described in this thread http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=210546 File>Import Raw it only makes a loud buzzing if played as if was corrupted, but it's not,i don't know why and the audio gauge instead of being like this it's completely blue i want to find the background ambient wind sound in this video that plays in a loop from 2:24 to 3:37 it also plays in the Tatooine Dune Sea (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) but i can't find anywhere,i looked every thread,i asked in other forums but never replied,i searched for hours in the KOTOR sound files, but i can't find it please help
Sith Holocron
It sounds like that file might be compressed? Try decompressing the file using Miles Tools which is discussed here. Please report your results if it does or does not work. Thanks.
DarthDeven
holy s*it, Sith Holocron in my thread thank you for having replied,it's taking me forever and i'm going nuts yes it could be,but i don't even know which file plays that specific sound effect i was just trying to play that sound to know if it was the right one but unfortunately unless i find out how to decompress that file,i'm screwed no Miles doesn't work, although i was searching for that tool forever,it dissapeared unless you paid money for it i've tried renaming it mp3 and decompressing it but it only has a silent file of 1 sec and that doesn't do nothing else i have to convert it with something? Kexikus
I was once able to "convert" the game music by simply renaming the .wav files to .mp3. Afterwards I could play them with every player like Windows Media Player or iTunes.

Please report your results if it does or does not work. Thanks. bump i've tried to test another file by renaming its extention in mp3 and decompress it,but somehow the file from 1.7 Mb(al_nt_Starforge,or the main background ambience sound of the Star Forge) shrunk to 4 Kb WTF? but the file i was searching for is called "Al_nt_duneseabed" located in the folder Streammusic i've tried "playing it" by using the launcher and it works by renaming it "click.wav",but somehow Miles shrinks the file to 4 kb when decompresses,it shouldn't be like this when the original was 978 Kb how can i fix this bug? or it's that specific version of Miles that has that specific bug? Fair Strides 2
i tried that, but it simply opens it leaving a blank media player without any error Well, I just looked through KotOR Tool and listened to the video you linked in the first post. The files you want can be found in KotOR Tool, in KotOR 1->BIFs->sounds.bif. They are: as_nt_dunwind_01 as_nt_dunwind_02 as_nt_dunwind_03 as_nt_dunwind_04 as_nt_dunwind_05 And alternatively, you might also check out: as_nt_windgust_01 as_nt_windgust_02 as_nt_windgust_03 as_nt_windgust_04 as_nt_windgust_05

Kexikus
i tried that, but it simply opens it leaving a blank media player without any error Just checked and I get the same result. But I'm still able to play the music by doing just that... weird

DarthDeven
this is the sound i want, the background loop. I've tried again today but it simply shrinks to 4 kb from 973 kb,when decompressing it should grow in size, not reduce it that's why it's unplayable,if i try to convert it to raw,it leads to the same result. i copied directly the file from the game folder Windows media player says it's 04:26 minutes long, but when i rename it click.wav the launcher successfully plays the file (without modifications) that looks to be a 20-30 seconds loop. Can someone give me a link to the latest version of Miles? because the main site doesn't show any download option anymore EDIT:I suspect that the reason of this buggy conversion may be because this version of miles sound i'm using gives an error "no codec found" while trying to decompress a .wav file on my 64 bit system but if you rename it Mp3 the decompression "works" (no error) but ends up with a 4 kb file
