I mostly remember not really liking the game. I was probably too young and will need to play it a second time soon.

 

 

Going back to the shocking revelation that Sushi didn't really like Hit the Road...

 

It didn't quite click with me as a kid, partly because I didn't understand the setting. I had no idea of the concept of an American road trip or that the wacky locations were spoofs of tacky tourist traps. I was just like "this is weird". Somehow, it only hit me years later when I was watching some film and realised "oh right, this is like in Sam and Max!"

 

I replayed it semi-recently and it's great. And it's still the only Sam and Max game I've played for longer than 15 minutes. Sorry Skunkape.

First time I played it, I wasn’t too impressed with Secret of Monkey Island either 😱

I never cared for the National Lampoon’s holiday movies either for that exact same reason. I kept wondering when will they finally arrive at their holiday destination.

The first season isn’t great, but it really gets better for the second and third seasons. (And the story is a continuation of sorts). These games taught me the concept (and humour) of film noir-like detective sarcasm, which Sam uses a LOT.
