Lord Slart
My machine is currently:- P3 650 128MB Ram (soon to be 256) Gforce1 32MB (Need to upgrade b4 playing JK2) Cable Modem (super fast) 19" Flatscreen IIYAMA pro 450 Hoping to upgrade cpu and G card soon any suggestions??? It will probably run JK2 as is but I will want better performance. Not sure what cpu I can put into this mboard probably upto 1GHZ but i'm not sure might be 800MHZ. Should I just by a new PC with my bonus if it's enough?

If I were you, I would buy a GeForce 3 if you have money, or GeForce 2 MX/GTS/ULTRA depends. CPU - Go for 1Ghz, anything above you'll need a new mobo

RtCW is short for "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" I am lucky enough to have worked for a computer store recently. I purchased all the things I wanted at employee discount. I am sure I will be able to run JKII. The only thing I wish to upgrade is my internet connection. 56k just is not good enough for multiplayer games. So many people with Pentium processors. AMD provides faster chips at lower prices, for those looking to upgrade. My $0.

GUNNER
Man is that a releif, I was thinking I might have to upgrade. Thanks for easing my burden SaberPro. Actually I have a PIII 700 O/Ced to 933 with 256mg crucial and a creative Geforce 2 GTS. I'm not to worried about it as I would imagine that the normal spec for most people out there are some where in the 450-550 range. I can't imagine anyone making a game that wont run nicely on a 500 with 128mg and a decent TNT2 card or the such. Just because AMD and Intel are making processors in the 2ghz range doesn't mean that everyone and their uncle has ponied up for one. here is some FYI I just read while taking a PC class.. Did you know that 90% of people still use a 56K dial up.
Sturmgewehr
I nearly forgot. As far as the 2000 vs. XP discussion... Windows XP is far superior to 2000, and I'll tell you why. Does Windows 2000 have an animated wizard helping you in "Search Files and Folders"? No, it doesn't. This little guy is why XP is and always shall be better than 2000! Actually I have not much experience with Windows 2000 and therefore have absolutely no basis for an opinion on this matter.
GUNNER
In a class I am taking I just read an article on how XP was supposed to be the most secure OS ever and it was hacked buy a group of guys in Cali who work for a research company that tries to hack OS's. They sold 7 million copies in 2 weeks and then had to come up with a patch to fix this minor little flaw... \ \Want the article?
SaberPro
WindowsXP: From some article I read, some Talibans tried to hack XP...but ok... Source: PCWorld about 15 compatibility problems, it needs the NEWER version of everything... Don't you think XP is a bit TOO colorful? While not achieving stability as much as Win2000? I had a friend who has MAJOR problem with XP...which he got for his Christmas () Windows2000: Very stable, rarely crashes Compatible with most hardware on market Con: JK MULTIPLAYER DON'T WORK!!!!!! I'm running dual boot, gaming for Win98SE, application for Win2k...each OS I gave 60.5GB of space...very nice so far

P3 700 is smack in the medium performance range I still remember being super 1337 playing JK with my P2 350Mhz with ATI Rage Pro LT., which gives 14 frames per second...slow, but Elite

GUNNER
Or if you want to save a few bills just get a PIII 933 or 1ghz and then buy a 64mg GTS card. It will still get you by for awhile yet and you will have saved a few dollars. And get 256mg ram although ram is cheap for now..
Lord Slart
I could probably afford about £500 at end of Feb thats about $350. So I think maybe if I hunt around I could afford Sabers choices but only just and i'd rather not spend too much if I can help it. Should get nice fat pay check end of Feb but i've got to sacrifice my Friday night for it. Start work at 21:15 and finish at about 04:30ish at over time rate should give me about £475 for the night. But hey I'm at work now and i've got time to read and post and I might even bring JK in to pass the time on Friday and play it over work network for a few hours. Saber any ideas for specific mobo's that work well with Gforce3 cards either AMD or pentium as I'm not sure on my preference yet.
psycoglass
my specs are 400Mhz celeron 256Mb RAM GeForce 2 MX400 64MB I can run RTCW on mostly high settings on 800x600x32 and the proccessor sucks,so I'm confused. GUNNER
I have always used Abit mobos and have never had a lick of problems. Lots of people also like Asus as well. Ham Yoyo
PIII 550 256 MB PC 133 RAM WD 30.7 gig HD Voodoo3 17 inch Panasonic E70i monitor I'll be getting this game the day it comes out. I've been playing Madden 2002 PC and the max specs are a PIII 600, 128 meg of RAM, and a 32 meg video card. I have a few features turned off and the game still looks great. If JK II runs good on my computer I will buy a PS2 for Madden 2003. If not I will upgrade my PC instead.

With your computer specs, you should expect a low-medium performance from JK2....the game speed really depends on the CPU and the graphic card. It also depends what kind of Voodoo3 you have...
