Saw this on TFN and thought it was interesting...

X-Wing VS Xbox

Next month we are bringing you some of the biggest and best news for Xbox fans to date. LucasArts is hard at work turning two hot Star Wars properties into the biggest games they've ever made. Find out what this means to you. your dog, and your family in the March issue. And may the force be with you. And gesundheit.

so the question is which "hot Star Wars properties" are heading over to XBOX.... I think they are Episode II titles but it could be that our precious JKII is to be ported (which cant be a good thing) For some reason it seems that the author on TFN think it will be x-wing related, but i doubt that it would be another flight sim game.

What do ya think?

I've heard rumors about TIE Fighter 2. I hope that if they do make TIE Fighter 2 it will be a PC game, but I wouldn't be suprised if it will be an Xbox game.

Just to be clear: It's just a rumor. I don't even remember where I heard it, so there is a big chance it's not true.

There is no way they'd cancel JK2 for the PC. After that mess with Obi-Wan every SW gamer would never buy another SW game ever.

Im not worried tha JKII would be canned for the PC; I think it is very unlikely that we have to worry about that. I am more worried that it will take away fromt he PC sales of the game, thus diminishing the online community, (in terms of multiplayer).

here here, Tie 2 for pc.

i'm sick of having great games get moved across to consoles, its a slap in the face to all the guys who made the games so successful in the firstplace. The pc's made lucasarts and then they stop making obi-wan because of the "technical superiority" of the X box.

somtimes i just want to cry

An X-Box costs 299 (not 400-500). The same as Playstation 2 and 100 more than the Game Cube.

Also, since when were all games worth $50? Some of these games that cost $50 I woudn't use to balance my coffee table.

That would be funny if it was "Super Bombad Racing 2: More big headed than ever" I would laugh so hard.

The only reason I would get an Xbox is for Halo.

If I ever did buy a console I would get a GameCube anyway. Has anyone seen the ROTJ Death Star scene in Rogue Squadron? They rendered so many ships, tie fighters, laser blasts onto the screen it nearly looked llike the movie! Awesome stuff.

StormHammer, that Bounty Hunter game would be cool, but I won't be buying an XBox (although my brother might) so I probably wouldn't get to play it. I seem to remember that Wilhuf was quite keen on the idea of a game with bounty hunters a few months back. Mind you, that was before we got official word on JK II, so we were all just praying for any kind of Star Wars FPS! :)

For the record, I don't care whether JK II is ported to the XBox after it comes out on the PC. I only hate games which are ported to the PC from other consoles. What LEC do with the game after I've got to play it in its intended form is up to them... ;)

No offense to x-box owners, but I am so much against that system, its unbelievable. I am a PC guy, but I really hate Bill Gates. It is not fair, to us loyal SW gammers, that Bill Gates comes strolling alont with his gillion dollar checkbook, and pays off a company to make exclusive games for his crap ass sytem. I swear, if they EVER made any of the X-wing/Tie Fighter series x-box exclusive, I would find Gates, and hang him. I was angry enough about Obi-Wan until I found out it wasn't as good as anticipated by many. I really don't like it when companies do that, it really makes me think they sell out. Yes, LucasArts is in the buisness of making money, but please, is it worth losing all your dedicated fans to put some moeny in a bank account that is already bursting at the seems?

Exact same thing could be said about Sony / Nintendo... And if you change it around a little, it's pretty much related to what every company around the world tries to accomplish.

I heard rumors about Bounty Hunter about a year ago when Lucas Arts secured the rights to the name. I think such a game could have a really good plot with lots of action. I hope its a fps and is one of those soon to be announced titles. As far as Obi-Wan is concerned. Most people, including many X-Box fans, thought the game was going to be a real bust. The game turned out better than many thought. I finished the game a while ago and still play it from time to time because of the great replay value. The X-Box is a quality console with lots of speed. But, I would rather play a first person shooter on my PC where the control is far superior using a mouse keyboard combination. 3rd person shooters, fighting, and racing games tend to run well on consoles because of the gamepad controls.

Well the single player game I am going to make using the JO engine has you playing a character who becomes a bounty hunter.

Though it won't have the scope I would like it to have as far as gameplay; the story and levels are already planned out on paper and plays out like a Star Wars novel.

We are already planning a sequal (even though the first one hasn't begun production yet! lol!) but we are toying with the idea of for the sequal to be a mod of Xwing Alliance. Mainly to show off the Star Wars universe in more depth by focusing on a shooter type game for the first installment then the space combat for the sequal.

More to come later.....

PCG UK has a little column every month called The Spy, which reports on rumours and inside info, and this month it was very interesting, as it is about new LEC games.

The Spy has a great affinity for Boba Fett. Perhaps it's the dark bounty hunter's anonymity and effortless cool that attracts the inevitable comparisons. Honestly, it gets embarrassing sometimes. The next Star Wars film, Episode 2 : Attack of the Clones, will feature plenty of Boba Fett action and The Spy has good reason to believe that a major PC title based upon Boba Fett will be announced to follow. The Spy heard rumours that the LucasArts title will be a third-person action game, most likely including flight sequences is Boba Fett's Slave I craft. The game should darkly complement Star Wars : Obi-Wan in the same way Tie Fighter complemented X-Wing.

Speaking of Star Wars : Obi-Wan, it now looks likely that this title, which began development for PC before becoming an Xbox exclusive, will indeed see eventual release for our machines ( some time after the Xbox version ). Activision, publishers of LucasArts' titles, may soon adapt a new multiple platform policy, apeing Comdemasters' recent decision to release every game for every format. As well as Star Wars : Obi-Wan and Star Wars : Starfighter, ( which has already had a PC release confirmed ), The Spy has been given good reason to believe that Star Wars : Jedi Starfighter, Star Wars : Racer Revenge and even the Gamecube's Star Wars : Rogue Leader may come over to PC.

In another exciting Star Wars rumour, The Spy has also had it hinted to him that a new X-Wing game may be on the cards. Will it be Totally Games' next project after they finish off Star Trek : Bridge Commander? We'll see.

The LucasArts excitement just won't stop this month, with rumours that they also plan to revive dormant franchises including Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones. The Spy should add to the disclaimer, however, that new iterations of these big names may not even remain within their original genres.
