Heavyarms Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 It is kinda stupid, but is Strider also Aragorn? I'm not that far, only up to the point where they have met Strider for the first time in the tavern.
duder Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 *POSSIBLE SPOILER* Yeah sure he is, have you not seen the film yet? He goes under the name to keep his identity secret, as Aragorn is the name of the true king. Aragorn son of Arathorn.
Sherack Nhar Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 That's not a spoiler. As soon as they mention the name Aragorn, we know that it's Strider they're referring to.
duder Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 But do people want to know that he is the true heir to the throne? Surely that is a spoiler, if not what is?
captain_drake Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 hey what happens to gandalf in the mines of moria i heard he fell into a pit and i have forgotten what the other books say please tell me
duder Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 *POSSIBLE SPOILER* Wizards improve by tests of ability. He returns from fighting the Balrog, as Gandalf the White, and is mistaken by Aragorn, to be Saruman.
Rogue Nine Posted January 28, 2002 Posted January 28, 2002 Also, wizards in Tolkien's mind aren't your garden-variety magic casters. They come from a specific race of immortal beings called the Ainur, in the subdivision Maiar. Therefore, Gandalf really couldn'tve died.
